The staff were very pleasant but we had received no exact information where to collect the car. The lighting in the underground car park was so poor that it was impossible to properly examine the bodywork of the car and no torch was offered to do this. No information was given about where to contact if, for example, the car broke down, had a puncture, in an accident etc. No map given as to where exactly the car should be returned to. Only verbal instructions at the end of the collection which is not acceptable as the whole process of collecting a car is rife with anxiety and very little verbally offered by Alamo staff is retained, hence the benefit of having all this info in a pack. If there is such a pack, it was never offered or mentioned. Thankfully, no incidents occurred and the car was returned in exactly the same condition as l received it. Returning the car. As no specific info was given how to access the underground car park in Malaga, we had to circumnavigate the train station three times before we luckily saw a small sign re the names of the various car hire companies. How stressful was this!! On returning the car, suddenly ‘a torch ‘ was produced to enable the Alamo staff member to examine the condition of the car but the same courtesy was not offered to me on collecting the car!! Luckily, the staff member agreed, all was as it should be and my 200 euro deposit would be refunded into my bank account in a few days. The staff member was very pleasant indeed. The whole experience could be less stressful if only Alamo management would think how it feels to collect and return a vehicle and provide an easy straight forward info pack for their customers. A Q&A sheet covering most potential eventualities which can be given to someone who hires a car. Alamo will probably say all that info is on line but not much good if you are half way up a mountain road with no internet access!!! Alamo, you could do much better!

Quick, polite, helpful. We love Enterprise/ National / Alamo. One thousand per cent better than Sixt…Sixt tried to charge me for pre-existing scratches. Luckily I had photos! No apology from them, after they backed down. They behave like those nasty outfits in Mallorca. Avoid Sixt. Use Alamo!

Offered me an automatic or manual which was brilliant to start with as I only drive automatics at home. Process was quick and efficient, staff very helpful. Car was excellent, no issues. Dropped off back at airport where a member of staff was in the car park, so didn’t even have to drop the keys off. Would use them again as best price also.

Alamo/Enterprise staff at Luxembourg could not have been more relaxed and helpful. gave us a choice of car and when we returned the vehicle on Sunday and their desk was not staffed, an employee from another company accepted the returned keys on their behalf.

At first the employee said that there was damage on the bumper and asked if someone had reversed into me or me into them. I said that to my knowledge no-one had reversed into me and I certainly hadn't reversed into anyone. I added that the car was parked in the same car park I always use and I deliberately chose an area of the park well away from other cars .Also it remained there until this morning when I drove back to the airport. I said if someone had reversed into me where was the damage? She pointed out a long scuff mark along the bumper and asked if I had noticed it when I inspected the car on the day I picked it up . I wasn't given any paperwork as is what usually happens when I hire a car at Carcassonne airport but was told the car was new and had no scratches . I inspected the car and saw there were no scratches and drove off. It is obviously her word against mine. When I said this has never happened before as I am extremely careful and only use the hire car to get from the airport to my home. Her reply was," these things happen." She said they would hold onto £1000 credit card until the work had been done - it shouldn't cost much and had I taken out insurance with them?I said I had organised my own insurance. Obviously I feel annoyed as i took great care and the scuff mark( there is no dent or long scratch with another colour of paint- it looks like someone has rubbed a cloth against it ).I am concerned they will say it needed extensive repairs- to me that is not the case as it hasn't damaged the paintwork.
