Pleased I didn't need to make a claim, but re-assuring to know I didn't have to pay the much more expensive price at the counter

Needed to hire car recently with an excess of £1600 and to cover that the Hire company wanted to charge £38.00 for the day. Which I think is a lot of money. So ReduceMyExcess was the perfect solution and peace of mind for a whole year.

I found the experience very easy. The website explained in simple terms what you are covered for and what the price would be. Fortunately I didn’t need to make a claim, therefore I cannot review this part of the process.

I've no idea what would have happened if I'd had a crash and needed to claim, so it's difficult to rate the service. But it seemed a better option to buy this insurance than either pay a ridiculous amount to the hire car company or do without and risk it.

i am a regular customer, and use their services all the time, however, if your vehicle is not available for any reason, then the company does not give a facility to cancel, they don't have a phone number, and email/online response is 48 hours. When they got back to me they told me that since I had not informed them before the cover started; (i.e the day I was supposed to collect the vehicle) I was not eligible for a refund. This particular thing has happened twice to me and on one occasion after much argument they refunded me but on the second occasion, they made the above excuse.

If you are cancelling the policy after the cover has started then this would result in no refund due, which is in line with the terms you agree to when purchasing the policy. Car company didn’t have correct vehicle and I could not contact anyone from this company on time because they had closed the whole weekend . Finally got a response 4 days later

I can see that you had contacted us after our offices had closed, and we ask that you allow up to 2 working days for a response. We are unable to add cover for other type of vehicles to your policy. If you required cover for another vehicle type, you would have needed to purchase another policy and we would've refunded the original policy. Kind regards, Charli.
