Customer reviews for Centauro
Having a reduce my excess policy gives me peace of mind when hiring a car. I find centauro very good it's office is off airport but transfers are quick and easy.
— Trev57 • May 19, 2026I booked a car with full for full and… I booked a car with full for full and when I went to collect it, it was 80% ( that what they said). I told them I want it full for full and they said we can give you a full tank or a partially filled one as it is what it says in the contract. So, read carefully. It is the first time it happens to me!. Then, when I brought it back and they charged me for the scratch ( That I didn't notice when I took the car) they didn't refund me the fuel but took more money ( to make the 200 euros) for a scratch under the bumper, which was there when I picked the car. If it was me, i would have repaired it for 15 euros. But that how they make money: stealing from innocent naive people.
— sabrina • May 19, 2026Not the fiat 500, we expected, but the Panda was acceptable. The car performed well on the steep twisting roads of Kefalonia. Loads of identical hire cars, so clearly a popular choice of vehicle, even if a bit too much like a van for my liking. Service at the hire car desk was friendly and polite. The company was only a few minutes walk from the airport. I would recommend dropping heavy bags at the airport first, if an option, as quite a steep slope.
— SpanishPilchard • September 18, 2025No cars on site, Transfer to location, difficult to find, charged for a scratch I din't put on the car.

— Scot Abroad • September 15, 2025We have used Centauro for the last 5-6 years at Olbia after using a couple of other companies. We have found Centauro to be very good and don't pressure you for the extra insurance and have had nothing but good service throughout even when the car was damaged whilst parked during the hire period. 5*
— Scarlet • August 9, 2025Centauro were good, helpful and friendly staff, the vehicle was spotlessly clean and roadworthy. Easy pick up, close to office not miles to walk to carpark as with "on airport" hires so it was easy to return to office with any queries. Drop off even easier, drive into middle of lot and the guy is waiting, checks car over, says ok, processes the refund immediately for fuel and damage deposit then off to the shuttle bus to airport, you don't even need to go into the office. Trip to airport only 10 minutes. I felt ripped off before with previous hire company (Goldcar) so I was pleased with the price and service from Centauro.
— Scarehughes • August 7, 2025Quick service on collection, but very pushy to sell add ons. Return was not good. Car not checked in our presence and was just told that waiver & petrol money would be refunded within 3 days. Not good enough really.
— En uk • July 28, 2025A bad experience. The car was waiting in a dangerous location sandwiched tightly between two cars, no offer to present the car. Subjected to pressure selling of their own (expensive) excess reduction policy using scare-mongering tactics criticising third party excess insurance policies. In all rentals prior to this one any minor scuffing to cheap plastic hub caps has always been accepted as fair wear and tear by the hire company and never charged. Not so Centauro who insisted on charging 110 euros per hub cap. The hub caps may have been damaged when I collected the car but in view of above comments I never thought to check. The car was however almost new and clean. It seems Centauro has a policy of quoting low but then seeking to recover costs through very dubious practices. Will never use them again irrespective of whether they are the cheapest.

— Bonzo • July 10, 2025After over twenty years of car rentals in Spain, on arriving to collect the vehicle this year, and using the same credit card I have always used, I was told that because my name on the card was incorrect (Mr. + Initials + surname) I must either pay an additional 270 Euros for Centauro's insurance, or I should go and find a taxi. This almost negates the excess insurance that I had purchased before travelling. I have emailed Centauro, who have not bothered to reply, to clarify what name details they require on credit cards. Needless to say, the card was accepted for payment of their insurance.

— DoneSpain? • July 8, 2025I did not have any problem with this company and I highly recommend it
— Bgv • June 14, 2025It is a good car hire company. Both check-out and check-in were well organised. The car was almost new and worked well.
— BGV • June 14, 2025picked up at palma airport to a location off airport to hire car , it was a bit chaotic as they shout your name out when it's your turn but there are lots of people waiting so be aware of that , when it was my turn it was quite straight forward , no problem or hassle after refusing extra insurance and the car was new but had a small amount of damage which was noted on the check list , car was very good aAND THE RETURN WAS VERY STRIGHT FORWARD AS WELL (WHICH IS VERY UNUSUAL )one tip for you is to video the car when you collect it inside and out noting the mileage and condition , and also when you return the car do the same check and that covers you for any invisible damage that car hire companies find later when you are on the plane . this company however did provide good service without hassle .shuttle to the airport was quick also . .be aware when returning to palma depending on the time of day , the traffic is horrendous so give yourself an extra 25 mins to travel back and the petrol station to refill the car is next to the car hire depot (centauro )
— stewy • June 13, 2025Great service, was pushed a bit to take out their insurance but clearly not needed! The car was brand new and excellent value. All went well.
— Nickelarse • May 9, 2025Very poor . Requested a qashqai or similar , was given a hybrid van . Service representative was unhelpful, rude, surly & incompetent . Wont ever use again .
— jay68 • August 19, 2024Waited over two hours to collect car. Number system not working. Staff allowing Spanish customers to jump the queue.
— Jon • August 4, 2024Great car, great prices, very good service all round.
— Michael • July 23, 2024
So quick and easy to collect and return
— Lynn C • July 7, 2024Very professional friendly service, can’t find fault in anything
— Ricky • June 12, 2024Pickup and returned the car without any issues from Barcelona rail station. Not well sign posted from station to hire office. Underground car park very tight on level 4 when returning car. No toilet available in car parking area
— Andyroo • May 22, 2024Great price, friendly, efficient staff. No hassle over previously recorded damage, fuel or toll costs.
— Chard • May 3, 2024Couldn't fault them - no issues with collection or return, car was reasonably new and in very good condition.
— Gingerdad • January 22, 2024Upon bringing the car back the girl inspecting the car immediately found 'new' damage underneath the car. We had not caused this damage. We had looked carefully at the car on pick up, but hadn't got down on our hands and knees to inspect the underneath. But the girl seemed to know exactly where to look and found it straightaway, like she knew it was there already. We got charged 225 Euros. The damage was there already and, judging by the way the girl honed in on it straightaway Centuaro knew about it but hadn't recorded it on the customer-side system. No doubt, every driver that subsequently rents the car is charged for exactly the same damage, over and over. Now I've looked into it further there are numerous other reviews with exactly the same scenario. It's criminal really. I'll never use Centauro again.
— lisaf • November 2, 2023They charged almost £1000 for deposit and it has to be from a credit card. Though it returned in full it could be a problem to someone without a credit card.
— Eric • September 19, 2023I had pre booked the car with a 3rd party online company. When I arrived at the hire companies office late at night they refused to allow me to put the deposit for the hire car on my credit card and pay the remainder of the hire charges on my debit card. I advised them I needed to use 2 cards one for deposit (credit card) and one for payment (debit card) they advised only one card could be used which was never stated on any pre terms correspondence. I didn't have sufficient credit limit to put both transactions on one card. I was left stranded in Kefalonia late at night with my elderly disabled mother. Never again will I pre book a hire car. Ended up using taxis my whole holiday which ruined my holiday with all the stress
— Lisa • September 18, 2023Centauro is a fraudulent actor in the rental car business. They cheat customers upon returning rental. They gave me a rental car with only 500km of AdBlue remaining. I paid euro 25 for 10L and was told Centauro would refund me. Upon returning the car the desk clerk said only if I have an IBAN number will they refund me. Being from the US, we have no IBAN numbers. Centauro refused to simply credit my credit card. In other words, I paid 25 Euros for AdBlue just so the next renter(s) could drive 9500KM on my dime!!!!
— Lp • November 11, 2022Very good, helpful and fair
— Paul • October 7, 2022No problems very perfessional
— Bob • September 14, 2022The lady that gave us the car hire was very helpful and upgraded us when she saw the height of my husband and gave us a bigger car. Fab customer service
— Lou • September 4, 2022Good value, quality car and friendly service
— Andy • August 2, 2022Good service. Quick to get the car and get away at the end of the hire (not always the case when used before)
— Richard G • July 3, 2022Have used for 6 years Have never had a problem No pressure into excess cover or anything else Reliable pick up drop off at airport Friendly efficient service
— Nipper • June 24, 2022Slick operation, obliging but very professional staff. One advantage of off airport pick up and drop off is that the shuttle bus driver has to deal with the traffic around departure area not you! A major plus point
— Stephen • June 21, 2022Yes no issues. No hard sell of insurance or attempts to reclaim part of excess.
— James • May 25, 2022Quick and easy pick up. No hard sell and deposit refunded punctually
— CBgeebee • May 19, 2022Great on all fronts
— AR • September 18, 2021They charge you too much when you pick up the car and make you pay for damages that you didn’t made. don’t use this company ever
— Guerra • February 14, 2021
They ripped me off for a very small damage to the paint of a wheel. Costing me 300 euro. Luckily I had the Autoeurope excesss insurance. They repaid me the damage.
— Herman • November 17, 2020I made the mistake of clicking through the booking offered by Ryanair which ended up being with Centauro from Faro Airport. Of course I should have known better.... EUR 650 charge for "damage". which was evidently there when the car was collected. It was to the lower trim panel under the passenger side door. I had not spotted it when we collected the car (AT 11pm) but it had previously been GLUED back on. Obviously this is just a scam to catch the unwary. I had third party insurance but it is disgraceful behaviour by Centauro. For anyone else the car was a lovely looking Alfa Romeo Guilietta in Grey reg. 68-XE-13. Needless to say I'd avoid them like the proverbial plague, but anyone reading their reviews probably knows that already.
— RSE2020 • November 11, 2020I’m still waiting for refund me, more than 1month, Definitely bad service!
— Andre M • September 13, 2020Thieves ... I delivered the car with more fuel than when I took it (it wasn't full when I picked it up...), and they didn't refund me despite the fact that the amount was very low (10 euros) after a rent of 700 euros + ... ridiculous
— Daniele • August 30, 2020Only use these if all others cannot supply or if you want to pay for their full insurance package. As they will charge you for some damage and they know exactly where to look straight away. We took photos of slight damage to one of the wheels, scratches to a door and wing. They would not accept that the damage was already there, eventually cost us 300€. You have been warned
— San juan • July 9, 2020Could not recommend lowly enough. During the COVID crisis, they did not follow the contract at all. The tried to charge customers for days where the car couldn't be legally driven, they lied about under what circumstances driving would be legal, and then they dug up stale credit card data, from a previous transaction, and used it to make a fraudulent transaction. I had to cancel my card. Also, you can never talk to a manager. They get the nameless "foot soldiers" to commit the crimes, and a manager is never "available" to talk to. If that sounds weirdly close to organized crime, you're not alone in thinking it.
— Jason • March 31, 2020The lady on the desk tried to scar monger me in to paying £168 for a weeks insurance. She actually made me feel really nervous about driving the car. I declined and told her I am a good driver and won't plan on having a crash. Her reply was to tell me that other drivers in Spain are terrible drivers and that I would get charged even if they crash into me. The car itself was full of dents scratches which I took a video off. The tyres where also extremely questionable all in all a bad experience
— JG • March 16, 2020We have rented via Centauro in previous years, both in Spain and Italy, but only during warmer periods. In the past, it worked without much notice. This time we rented a car via KLM / CarTrawler and Centauro well in advance of week 7 when we were celebrating sports holidays in Italy. The car would be picked up outside Malpensa. We were going to drive up to the Alps in the Aosta Valley. I clarified in the order that we should have winter tires, both for safety and not to be fined due to Italy laws. Once in place in Malpensa we did not get the car we had booked. We got another worse version, and in order to get an equivalent car we had to spend an additional 50-60 EUR to get to a similar level. Already there the problems began. There were no winter tires on the car or cars, and our needs were completely ignored. Centauro claimed that snow chains would suffice, and that is what they can offer. There was nothing nice about the front desk. We had no choice but to take the car we were given, and well up in the Alps we had planned to travel between 2 different locations. But because of the summer tires we could not drive. To be able to keep up with our friends, I tried to put on the snow chains. But those of the wrong size so they were completely useless. Centauro did put me and my family at great risk by offering substandard equipment. When I got into trouble, and tested the snow chains, I called Centauro. They could not help me and directed me to go to the nearest town to buy my own chains that fit, of which they would replace me later in the front desk. We had already lost preacious time because the car was inoperable and now I would spend more time looking for places to buy snow chains. It ended well, we came back to Milan in one piece, but in connection with our problems Centauro did not take responsibility, nor has they answered my case, on the complaint I made through their website after I came home. No one seems to care, despite the situation we had to endure. Neither did CarTrawler take responsibility for referring all contact to Centauro. I cannot recommend Centauro, and I will probably never rent from them again.
— Nordic Skiier • March 3, 2020Booked with Expedia...”all inclusive price” But Centauro pulled the old 300€ extra for full collision damage waiver. It was late, we were tired, but Never again.... rubbish Fiat Punto 1.2 motor which cannot cope with the steep hills in Madeira... totally inappropriate vehicle. Shame on you Centauro, but it won’t happen again. The established hire car operators are cheaper/better. Caveat emptor

— TonyTee • January 25, 2020Centauro Warning After 10 years of using Centauro cars at Malaga airport, 2 or 3 times a year, I am looking for an alternative supplier. In October 2019 we were left waiting more than half an hour to be collected from the airport by minibus. When we got to the office to collect the car it was a rugby scrum with customers everywhere and a further wait of 45mins to get to the front of the queue. When I asked what the problem was I was told that they were under new ownership. We have just returned from another visit during January 2020. Upon collecting our car we were told that it had no damage, however upon inspection we saw three areas of minor damage and a scuff on one of the wheels. I went back into the office and eventually got a staff member to come out to the car. She wrote the three areas of body work damage onto my contract but not the wheel scuff. I questioned this and was told very clearly that it was only necessary to record bodywork damage. When returning the car a member of their inspection team went straight to the scuff and photographed it. I was told that the charge for this damage was 300 euros and despite a heated discussion my deposit was deducted by 300 euros. Since then and despite a series emails to Centauro they have completely failed to address what was quoted by their staff member at the point of collection, even though I was able to provide her name. So my conclusion is that I was deliberately set up and my naivety at taking her word has cost me 300 euros. Having read other customers who have recently experienced similar fate at Centauro I have come to realise that they appear to be dishonest and should be avoided at all costs. Please let my experience be a warning – use someone else
— Angry • January 25, 2020Always great prices and most cars are in good condition.
— Mogo • January 19, 2020DO NOT USE AT ALICANTE AIRPORT!!!! There is something serioulsy wrong here. I have been using Centauro for 15 years with no problem but when I landed on 12/12/2019 the girl on the desk was pushing to take their insurance but as I use car hires 5 or 6 times I buy an annual policy so had no need. On returning the car the Centauro operative spent 15 minutes with a torch inspecting the car. Finally he said there were scratches on the bonnet it took me and my wife to take a photo zoom in and see several hairline scratches all smaller than the size gauge on the contract. The operative closed the contract without my signature. I was then charged €250 for minor damage. I am a gold club member but would never use again. I have photos to prove thee damage. DO NOT USE

— NelioF • December 12, 2019DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Have mislead me and lied to ME. Stolen an estimate of £300 off me for what should have been a simple online car hire through an agency. Do not trust them, they are scammers and rip off artists.
— Barneywood • November 25, 2019Car exactly what we requested and in excellent condition. Efficient pick up and drop off.
— Alison • November 21, 2019Excellent service, great selection of cars and good price
— Palomares P • November 18, 2019Good overall experience. Fairly quick transfer from the airport to the car hire centre and we didn't have long to wait to get our car. There were some scratches on the car which were not highlighted on our contract form but that was quickly rectified and we were on our way - all within c. 40 mins from the time we were picked up at the airport. There was no pressure to take out their own insurance which made a change from our previous experiences.
— Born to run • November 14, 2019
We have used Centauro several times, have found them to be excellent for the price, have never had a problem with them. Only slight negative is that there is sometimes quite a way to collect the cat.
— Dotc • November 11, 2019They stayed open after the plane was delayed. So grateful for that. Was upgraded to fiat 500 lovely car..Comfortable and relaxed week travelling around North Italy.
— Easy rider • October 27, 2019Tried to get us to take extra insurance etc when we already had.on return of the car again said there were scratches which we were liable for. No water in the windshield wash... This firm are bullies and I would nevery use them again. . We did argue our case and no money was taKen from our account. Please unless you want hassle do not use Centauro in Olbia.
— Momo • October 23, 2019Excellent experience all round. Good price, friendly staff at the airport, good location close to the terminal. Pick-up and return processes very efficient and quick with no hassle about buying extras/insurance (have my own excess insurance) and instant return of deposits. The car provided was current model with 11k on the clock.
— Bobla • October 15, 2019Excellent service
— Thomas • October 14, 2019Instructions said that I’d be met at arrivals and taken to shuttle bus. There was no one there. I called the number provided, no answer. Eventually after asking around a non-Centauro employee showed me where the shuttle buses went from. I waited almost 2 hours for the shuttle. I kept asking the staff who worked for different companies or perhaps an overarching organization. They said the bus was coming and just to wait. Perhaps around 30 other buses arrived while I was waiting. When the driver did arrive he was apologetic and said there had been a problem with the bus. I could've got a taxi at any point which would've been a better solution. The car hire process was OK, had to pay a fee 14 euros for a thing that enabled you to go on the motorway. Agent over emphasized that without waiver excess cover you pay for EVERYTHING! What about excess? Scaremongering. Was worried about finding scratches on the car which they would stitch me up for. he said to check very carefully. Car USB connection didn't work with the stereo. Simple and successful process at the drop off
— RobG • October 13, 2019Not a good start as there was no signs directing us to the pick up point for the shuttle bus. Eventually arrived at the office which was some way from the airport with restricted access due to road works. The car we were given was not what had been expected being smaller and unable to fit our luggage, this despite the expected model being clearly available on site. You pay for fuel up front and return at the same level for a refund. The only problem being that we were told the car was 75% full but was actually more like 60% so watch out for this trick. Drop off went smoothly and all excess and fuel monies were credited back.
— Joey • October 10, 2019Spent 15 minutes trying to find the rep in arrivals hall. He was sat behind all the other reps on his phone with his sign flat on his knee. Waited 30 minutes for shuttle bus. At the depot there were 2 receptionists and only 4 waiting but had to wait 90 minutes for attention, told they only had a smaller car than ordered by when filming damage to the car the receptionist went beserk and said he was calling the police. Dealt with the other receptionist who said to ignore the first and finally got a car albeit the smaller one.
— ATM • October 9, 2019Never had a problem with Centauro, cars always nearly new, great service at Alicante and Murcia airport, no issues when taking car back either, they don't scrutinise the car on return, will always be my first choice if as cheap as another supplier I use (Use approx. 7 times a year) just check the car for mark/damages not on the sheet before driving off and advice them and they will reprint a new sheet out with new damages on.
— subby • October 7, 2019Have used them for many year generally with no problem, deposits and fuel payments returned quickly. Had one problem where they tried to charge me for broken glass in the wing mirror, manage to prove to them that this was broken on collection. Price they were trying to charge was extortionate.
— Bill • October 2, 2019On dropping the car back the guy from centuro tried charging us for a chip out from underneath the front bumper. Then argued with us that we should have taken more photos of the car. They did something similar to the couple dropping their car off at the same time as us. Beware!
— Mark • September 25, 2019Zero rating for Centauro car hire. Avoid at all costs! Flight to Porto delayed to next day due to a technical problem with the aircraft. Centauri cancelled my car hire booking and counted it as a no show as the plane arrived more than 12 hours late. This was despite several efforts to contact them by phone and also via an agency. When I finally got through to Centauro's customer service team, they did not help and actually hung up on my call! I travel a lot with work and have never received such an appalling level of customer service from any other hire car company.

— Taylor • September 15, 2019Purchased car hire and deposit insurance for 4 days. Centauro took my credit card and tried to charge 80 euros even though it was all pre-paid. Got incredibly defensive when I questioned what the charge was for and aggressively tried to sell their own insurance even though I informed them I already had insurance (much cheaper, £12 compared to their 50 euros). Tried to scare me into buying their insurance by saying the AXA cover I had would not pay out WHEN they charged me. Refused, paid the £1,000 deposit and took the car. Returned it 4 days later and was charged 60 euros for the smallest scuff on a hub cap. Argued, but they just printed an invoice and illegally transferred my signature from the pickup documentation to the invoice stating I agreed to pay 60 euros. Luckily I got them to print the invoice for me as they never emailed it. Thankfully AXA paid out for the charge. Tip - check hub caps thoroughly, get AXA cover and ensure you get an invoice when they charge you.
— Matt • September 15, 2019Excellent price, clean car, courteous staff, no pressure to pay for extras. Have used Centauro a number of times. My first choice.
— Jsc2012 • September 14, 2019Centauro were very efficient with an excellent choice of cars for rent. Their staff were very friendly and willing and able to help with all eventualities. I would highly recommend them.
— DC • September 9, 2019Everything went okay on collection. I dropped the car off as the offices were closed in the early morning. On my return to the UK I notice that they not only did not refund my deposit but had taken an extra £24.95 off my Debit card to compensate for a missing rear windscreen wiper. Not sure how I could have lost it? I have emailed them for the refund but they have not replied. I intend to take it further as they have abused my Debit card.
— Domino King • September 6, 2019well,the €25 were a surprise to us 2 days later after we returned the car. The tank was almost full, only €5 was missing and we gladly agreed to pay them from our fuel deposit. So today we checked if the €45 were returned to our account as expected. Guess what?! only €20 were returned. They charged us €25 for refueling the car! Petrol Station practically across the street from their office. At the phone the staff was rude and unprofessional. Very disapointed. Will never book with them again.
— marinaki763 • September 2, 2019Excellent service
— Tarquinn • August 31, 2019
After a two hour wait to get our hire car we then experienced a 1 hour wait to return it. This company is thoroughly understaffed. The staff they have seemed very careless to the customers needs and lunch/ smoking breaks seem the most important part of their working day!! Highly recommend using a different company.
— Annoyed traveller • August 31, 2019The car hire company did not have the class of vehicle which I had hired but offered an upgrade, which was generally OK. The car hire was meant to be from a full fuel tank to full on return. However, the company had not filled the vehicle. They indicated that the vehicle was 35% full, with no explanation as to how this figure was arrived at. I was subsequently subjected to a fuel charge that was returnable if I returned the car at 35% full. This appears to me to be an arbitrary charge and the basis of this should have been fully explained. In addition, I had booked “full to full” as this ensures that I would only pay for the fuel I had used. I have no guarantee that this was the case. On taking the car out there was a list of 6 or 7 previous points of damage. This was originally incorrect and required revision. This included requesting the company to record damage which had not been recorded and removing damage which had been recorded but did not exist. On returning the car I was informed that I would have to pay for damage to the driver’s door, which constituted a very minor fold in the bodywork. It was contentious as to whether this actually constituted “damage” and I had not caused this. It was only when I was able to provide photographic evidence that this “damage” exited when I had taken the car out that the member of staff agreed that I should not be charged. On receiving the email documentation after the hire had been completed, I note that whilst my documentation on taking the car out listed 7 items of damage, the paperwork returned to me on completion of the hire only noted 4 items of damage and that these items did not include the “damage” to the driver’s door which the staff member had attempted to charge me for. The staff were generally very pleasant, the car was perfectly acceptable and other than the fact that I may have been overcharged for fuel that I had not used due to the car not being full at the start of the hire, this would have been quite a good experience. However, there is clearly misreporting of damage to the vehicle on the part of the hire company here and I was left with the definite impression that there may well have been a deliberate attempt to overcharge me here for something which was not my responsibility.
— John W • August 26, 2019I hired a car from Centauro in pisa in may. Staff were friendly and process was very quick, no complaints there. On returning from holiday my credit card was hit for 3 consecutive months for nearly £50 each time by Centauro taking administration fees. They don’t notify you of this and are nightmare to get in touch with.
— Garry • August 23, 2019Had to wait 30 minutes to see a representative, they tried to sell me their expensive insurance which i refused. Car was ok and handing back the car was much slicker than picking it up. Overall not too bad and the horror stories i had heard about did not materialise.
— Doogal • August 12, 2019Pick up and drop off were seamless, all staff v friendly and courteous, no pressure to buy their own excess cover. Car seat for my 2 year old was decent. Car was immaculate on pick up.
— Dizz • August 1, 2019BEWARE!! The worst experience I ever had in any car Rental company I ever had! Office in nowhere, only one person in counter even there’s huge line of customers, not enough cars in the requested level and for the final- very bad treatment from the service guy in a professional level and human level!
— Arnon f • July 27, 2019Not on airport, but very close. Service was very good … would be a 10 if the pick-up process hadn't been so slow.
— Brian • July 21, 2019This company are awful, they in my case did not pay me back in full for the fuel, also took the deposit 1200 euros from my account, and did there best to try and keep it, only after threatening Centauro with legal action did they return the deposit. They try and sell you very expensive Excess Insurance. This company cannot be trusted
— Bo • July 19, 2019Very happy with the car itself and the service return unfortunately on collection the wait time was OVER 4 HOURS which is completely unacceptable. We started waiting at 9:25pm and collected the car at 1:35am - the staff apologised in a matter of fact way stating that the delay was due to there being a "new system installed 3 days ago". It is for this reason we will not be using Centauro in future visits, which is a shame, as we've just taken up a holiday home for us and our family and would be renting cars on a regular basis - but now it will not be with Centauro.
— Brian • July 19, 2019Nightmare! 1.5 hrs wait, car not in bay I was told it would be - spent 30 mins searching with key fob. Rude staff who made veiled threats if I didn't take their insurance. Never again!
— mplooney • July 18, 2019They play with fuel! BE CAREFUL On the pickup day on the document was chowing 70% of fuel, but on the car was 45%, I did ask to review and change. The guy said that was everything ok. On the delivery day, a problem happened with fuel deposit that supposes to be refunded to my account and we went back to the office. The guy said that everything was fine and my ALL money was delivered to my account. BUT NOT I sent an email to report the issue. And M.E. from the Centauros office replied: "Please note the amount charged for fuel was successfully refunded to your card when the car was returned, we have attached the receipt of the transaction." This receipt was from the pickup day! And they are not replying emails anymore about my issue. I believe that they do this very often as aN extra! BE CAREFUL

— Henry • July 17, 2019Very competitive renewal fee actually cheaper than the year before. Excellent value for money and provides peace of mind
— Woodall42 • July 9, 2019Adequate. Vehicle new and clean
— JamesBoyd • July 9, 2019They definitely try every scam going to make you part with more money. My experience was the fuel scam they do.Absolute shocking behaviour from centauro customer services. Please be aware that you check your fuel corresponds with amount they quote on the paper work as I paid full/full. When I left airport I noticed the fuel was only on 60%, checked paperwork and that said 85% fuel this is a way they try to scam money out of you, no help on the phone, no help via email and via Facebook they deleted my comments. What they do and say are completely wrong as if I would have returned car with 60% fuel they would have charged me a refuelling fee plus a fee to make up the 60% to 85%. Also on returning the car I've never had a check over like it before it took 10-15mins as though they were looking for something, they managed to find a tiny 2 Inch mark on the inside of the roof bars and said they would have to log it and it would come off my excess (credit card) i licked my finger rubbed the roof bar gently and it was gone as it was just a bit of dirt. Never again will use these again. Scam
— Chayoliver • July 3, 2019Great car but 90 minute wait to collect it.
— FloridaPhil • July 2, 2019Car was great, price was good, queue to get it was horrendous .. over and hour in the queue. Brushed off the big excess sell and all went well until we brought it back. Got stung for the petrol, just slightly off full and I thing they stung us for about 25 Euros for a gnats of fuel.
— Kevinski • June 30, 2019Good Cars and prices but this year, the Check in process was very slow and Car Return and transport to Terminal was absolutely chaotic. I would rent from them again because the cars are much newer and cleaner tham e.g. Goldcar whose cars are grotty!
— Wheel_nut • June 30, 2019Excellent in every aspect
— joddy • June 30, 2019Lest year my wife and I hired a car with no problems. What a difference a year make. We did exactly the same this year and we were held to ransom. Even thought we have the correct paperwork and insurance. We were forced to pay again. This was outrageous but what can we do. The ultimatum was pay up or you walk.
— Ripped off! • June 27, 2019
We rented their car for our 2 weeks holidays, we returned the car to be told we had to pay 100 euros because the right hub cup was lightly scratched!!!!! Never again, terrible customer service, two of their workers kept on talking in Greek and one of them was laughing. Horrible experience
— Lolo • June 22, 2019Excellent service, great price and no pressure to take unnecessary insurance.
— Robgov • June 13, 2019Friendly efficient service with no hard up-sell of insurance
— Rob • June 13, 2019I hired a car from these jokers in Faro in May. I paid up front for zero excess and full to full. When i went over the car with the rep, he pointed out that the tank was virtually empty and to bring it back roughly the same. On our return, I left the tank 3/8 full and because it was early and very busy with returns, I asked the agent to mark on my agreement that the tank was returned with more in it that I picked up. I then found out they had charged me for a full tank of fuel and a service charge as well, after much correspondence they are still refusing to refund me. Rent at your peril !!! I have contacted BVRLA for assistance. I have worked in car rental for many years and I thought this practice had stopped years ago. I may not get my money back, but I plead with you as a customer not to rent from these people to ensure that they don't receive your business. Tantamount to theft. Amateurs and rogues.
— Colly • June 11, 2019Absolutely awful. Would not recommend at all. Queued for over 2 hours to collect the car and, on return, charged me for 3/4 tank of fuel when they gave me the car only 1/4 full. Very low prices but they defo rip you off in others ways. Dont use
— hannaW • June 5, 2019What a refreshing change this was! Everything went like clockwork, there was no pressure to pay for extra insurance (and no scare tactics employed). We were given a nice car, received friendly and efficient service and enjoyed their excellent shuttle from, and back, to the airport.
— Jem • June 3, 2019Excellent service from start to finish - pickup at airport by minibus was on time and efficient. Honest support during car hire and return. Decent car. Good price. Great staff.
— Stevie D • June 3, 2019In most respects this is much like any other company operating in a crowded and competive market; they have a good range of cars which they rent out at competitive prices. What makes them standout is two things; firstly when I was at the desk I was not give the standard hard sell about taking out overpriced excess insurance. When I explained I already had it he just nodded and moved on. the whole process of getting the car was clear and genuinely seemed about selling extras that I might actaully need. The most impressive part was that on the booking contract is a circle 4.6cm in diameter. It was explained that any scratches, chips, or dents that will fit in the circle will not count as damange. Only one other company I have rented before have had such a clear and simple policy. I did find a couple of scratches that were not reported on the form after I had collected the car but when I returned the car I showed the rep the photos I had taken before collection and he immediately accepted them. All in all a very stress free hire. I will be using the company again.
— CamdenGuy • June 2, 2019They were efficient
— Annie • June 2, 2019I used CENTAURO car hire from Alicante Airport earlier this month and unfortunately I fell for their PARCEL SHELF scam, which seems to be employed by several car hire companies at Alicante airport. This is how it works. When we arrived we went to check in desk for CENTAURO which is just outside the exit doors (inside the airport). We were given a location for the vehicle. We only had hand luggage so placed this on the rear seat. We then inspected the outside of the car for damage and none being found we happily drive to our apartment in Altea. It was only when we reached the outskirts of Altea and went to the supermarket to get groceries did we realise there was no parcel shelf. Altea is around 50 mins from Alicante Airport. So we assumed (as others have) that the parcel shelf had been removed by CENTAURO due to the small size of the boot. However we did not like the inconvenience of not being able to use the boot to hide belongings. When we returned the car, the first thing the check in guy said was “where is the parcel shelf” as though he was looking for it as his first task. We calmly said it was not there when we hired the car, thinking that it had not been returned when the car was cleaned. He promptly said he would need to file a report and would report to his management. He then pointed to a clause in the contract which says (in small italic print) please check the parcel shelf. The upshot of this was a €200 unauthorised charge against my credit card the same day. No emails. No explanation. I have since contacted CENTAURO and been told the car when it returned was ‘damaged’ as it had s parcel shelf missing! So if I was CENTAURO wouldn’t you ask yourself. 1. Why would a person travelling from Singapore for 4 days in Spain steal a PARCEL SHELF? 2. What are the chances that next time I return to Spain and if I ever hired a car from CENTAURO I would be able to get the same make and model and be able to boast of having 2 x parcel shelves? 3. And lastly why does anybody have use of a second hand parcel shelf? If all this sounds ridiculous it is because it is! The fact the money was withdrawn from my account the same day I returned the car makes the situation more suspicious.
— Paffy • June 1, 2019Smooth pick up and drop off. Brand new car of which I was the 2nd driver. Noticed a couple of scratches which I pointed out. Couldn't fault the company and 2nd time using them.
— Belfcraig • May 26, 2019We got a virtually new car, in beautiful condition, which was ready and waiting for us to drive away. The pick up process was simple and efficient.
— G&A • April 28, 2019CONtauro said my Satander credit card would not register on there machine, so I had to use another card, funny they refunded the original card straight away( 1st Problem). Some credit card companys fight them for the money thats why they try to block them! (2nd Problem) Beware!! They gave me the spare key & not the flip original key. The car had 7 listed damage area's not including the lock , this is designed to distract you from putting the key in the door because you are too busy trying to check the faults. I collected the car from Alicante ground floor car park , which is very dark at 11.30 pm. Nearly impossible to check with nobody in there office. When I returned the car 8 days later the only thing the agent checked apart from fuel was the door and promptly said the lock was broke, I refuse to believe this is not a new problem and is the result of a different barrel fitted in the door from a previous problem. Hence no original flip key The agent just walk off saying he is chargeing me €253 for the lock. I am going to contest the claim and I have informed my EWC insurance company, They said Alicante is a big Problem! Car hire companies are not regulated. Look on the internet about key scam in Alicante. This can not continue, I am covered but alot of EWC policys do not cover locks thats what they reky on!
— DGB • April 25, 2019Was given a car with around a dozen scrapes.Missed one and got a 300 euro charge on return for damage I did not cause. Read other reviews on the web; I am not alone. AVOID !
— Frequent flyer • April 25, 2019Very poor company, after 2 weeks of our holiday in Ibiza they chargme 40 euros again with no explanation and no reason . Monkey business...
— Ramas • April 21, 2019Having a reduce my excess policy gives me peace of mind when hiring a car. I find centauro very good it's office is off airport but transfers are quick and easy.
— Trev57 57 • April 5, 2019On the whole pretty good. You must check your car all over for any problems. We had an issue when on return they checked right underneath the car and changed for damage. We believe the damage was there when we collected the car as we hadn’t knowingly caused it. The underneath is not somewhere we had checked up until that point
— Trev 57 • April 5, 2019I booked a car for 1 day for 37 euros using EconomyBooking site, and when I arrived to the company they also tried to charge me 170 euros for returning the car in a different place. That value was never shown to me, and other companies like Avis charge 9 euros for the same. Super abusive and super bad experience. No Centauro neither EconomyBooking gave my money back. Avoid both companies.
— Sebastian • March 28, 2019Good to deal with, easy paperwork, quick turnaround.
— AJAY • March 5, 2019I booked a car with full for full and when I went to collect it, it was 80% ( that what they said).

— Gogo • January 6, 2019Rented Car with Centauro in Milano - Malpensa Where do i start? We took centauro because they claimed they were at or very close to the airport. We had to wait 45 minutes on a shuttlebus and no one wanted to give any information when we called and asked centauro support. When the shuttlebus finally arived it didnt have baby seats so we had to go with our baby in the lap (not ok), but we thought the rental was close to the Airport but he went on the freeway and went on for about 15 minutes. Finally at the rental we had paid for a new WV Polo or similar but instead we got a smashed Fiat 500. Everything was supposed to have been paid but because we only have debit card not credit card they said they had to charge another 250 Euro (not reserved but paid, we did not get this back). A couple of weeks later when im home again i see another -50 euro on my bank account named centauro and apperently they charged 50 euro for some administration fee, so now i have had to disable the card and order a new one because i dont want them to charge more things. Never Centauro again.
— Morgan • December 16, 2018used many times. always hassle free. pick up is relatively fast, drop off and their inspection very fast ( while you wait).. any problems with vehicle sorted speedily( rear screen wiper faulty once). small scratches accepted as part of life for a hire car.

— Angry • September 15, 2018Worst company to use. Robbed of excess even with no damage on return, damage on car when collected had mysteriously disappeared? proving check in is not accurate. I have excess insurance so will be reimbursed, however, hire at your peril. Only €1.30 a day hire when rental is quiet means you will have a FRAUDULENT claim on your credit card from this company to make up profits! In past I would recommend these to anyone as I have had 10x rentals this year with no problems but at a regular cost of about€12 a day. BE WARY OF THIS RENTAL COMPANY.

A faultless experience, no high pressure insurance sales at check in just the facts & made fully aware of the excess. Return of vehicle again faultless & very quick, with email confirmation of fuel refund received while still at office.Beyond expectations & just about to book for October. Muchas gracias Centauro
— Joe • August 28, 2018We arrived Sunday 5 August 2018, took the mini bus to the Centuro area, and it was absolute chaos. 100s of people, luggage and only two staff. Our ticket was 130 and they were on 87.... after 30 minutes they got to ticket 89! We had to just walk away and return to the airport to get a taxi as with two small kids we couldn't wait 4+ hours in a tiny room with 100s of other poor people stuck there. People were getting angry and their was no help from staff so we left without a hire car. Whole thing was a complete shambles I would avoid at all costs!! Centuro did refund the money for our hire as we booked direct. Would never use again.
— Family hire • August 20, 2018I hired the car. It was meant to be full to full. They blocked 51Euros on my card to cover the full tank as well as the excess. I queried this as I have never been charged for petrol when I first take the car. They told me that it’s OK because the money would be returned to me once I brought the car with the full tank. I did this. The tank was absolutely full. The guy who inspected it told me to get into the mini bus to the airport & that the money would be in my account within a few days. It turned out that my Barclaycard had £47.91 outstanding! They charged me for the petrol even though I brought the car with a full tank! This is stealing! I am very angry. I have tried to ring them & is impossible to get hold of anyone. Email doesn’t work either. Will never use them again. Having said that, the company is easy to find from the airport. But had to wait nearly an hour to get the car.
— Gita • August 19, 2018SCAM. Deposit is miles from airport, they have hidden costs, don't check the car properly when they rent it out so whatever they find when you give it back will be put on you, assistance is non existent, and if you don't have euros you will get screwed with your card deposit as you will get more than 10% less money back. NOT RECOMMENDED. PS The 5 star reviews are surely fake
— Davide • August 2, 2018Terrible all round. Baffled by the (probably) fake 5* reviews. It’s NOT “at Faro Airport” - I booked a “desk in airport” specification. It’s 5 miles away on an industrial estate with a massively stressful bus journey. On the return it took 40 mins from dropping the car off to getting to the airport. Huge stress. Then the queue on arrival: was 2 hours outside in the blazing sun - horrendous. Then the pressure sales tactics - £200 for extra insurance with threats of £1400 excess and that amount blocked on my card. Extra cost of breakdown recovery - they said it could cost £500. Luckily we didn’t break down. £18 for “toll activation” - rip off. The tank was “80% full, so return 80% full”. What?! I booked full-to-full. How am I supposed to know what 80% full is - so of course I just filled it 100% to avoid problems. Extra cost. Car had lots of minor scratches and dings. More stress wondering if I’d get charged the £1400 already blocked on my card. Just AVOID.
— John • July 18, 2018Rip-off of 500 euro for a scratch which was practicly invisible. You can see it only from a very specific angle, from 30cm and with direct sunlight. Very bad surprise when returning the car. We did not notice it during the whole 7 days we used it...
— Pablo • June 27, 2018Car rental reaches the bottom of mediocrity - high cost / dishonest people / shocking service. I rent cars all over the world. I shall never have used this one, shall never have trusted them. You end up paying more than if you had used a normal company and you are left being very upset. They tricked me into taking their very expensive insurance by assuring me they would refund it partially upon return of the car without incident (as I was only driving the car to and from the hotel). There is no refund. This is a trick to make you buy their insurance. You are left dealing with their highly incompetent and dishonest customer service which allows itself to respond to you between 5 to 7 days (so there a 5 to 7 days delay between each reply). They never spoke to their staff on site, who openly lied to me both at pick up and return time. I asked for their formal complaint procedure. They never sent it. I reached out to their COO - radio silent. I was simply ignored. I also need to state that there was no shuttle waiting (or coming) for us at the airport. We had to call their customer service and were put on hold for 10 minutes before speaking to the local office. We waited for another 20 minutes before the shuttle arrived. Another couple missed their flight on the way back because the shuttle would only leave for the airport when it was full. Horrible experience. Horrible people. Left me very upset. And they don't give a damn because they are simply people with no moral.

— ScottChar • April 20, 2018First to begin with this rental company is not in the airport. You need to land, then wait for a bus to get to the rental company in Lisbon. The staff at the counter are very rude and just sit there doing other things even when customers are just waiting. Secondly, you might have booked through a 3rd party company, but they really dont care. They have hidden fees such as the Verde ticket tool which is 1.80 euros per day. Then they have the petrol deposit fees, insurance which is not a small amount by any means. Always check the wing mirrors as they are all scratched, but when you return it, its amazing given in good condition apparently. So always take photos before driving away with it. The cars aren't in bad condition but i didn't even get the small vehicle i wanted, ended up with a fiat 500L which is practically a 4x4. If you have the bad fortune of having to call in and add a driver or change anything, believe me they are rude and you end up having even more fees that were not discussed. I came back to have my deposit held for almost a month! When you return the car they say 5-7 days, but i ended up having to call them, email them, and my third party with proof of my contract before they released it. Even then it was shorted money as the 'exchange rate' was lower, however when i checked it was normal! Finally my third party did help me with compensation but never ever again will i use or recommend this service to anyone! Avoid avoid avoid.

Petrol on pick up only three quarters full went to desk and advised them, they said the gauge was probably not working properly but not to worry, on returning car with full petrol gauge read full!! Staff not nice didn't like being told they had ripped me off with the fuel even though had photos to prove it. wouldn't release car unless i took out their insurance or paid a ridiculous deposit amount on a mini of 2000 euros!!! very dubious staff and company wouldn't use again.
— JD • February 11, 2018Very good car rental company. They picked us up from the airport in a minibus to an off site facility 5 minutes away. Quickly sorted the car out for us and we were on our way.
— ggogoi • January 9, 2018Did the job
— Cardibreza • December 29, 2017Price was good. The guy at the meeting point at the airport seemed to be a student that wished he was somewhere else - he gave us poor directions to the shuttle bus rather than escort us [like it says in their email]. Pople had been waiting quite a time but not long after we arrived the bus turned up, Paperwork experience was fairly standard with a warning about the costs of accidents etc clearly aimed at buying their rather costly extra insurance but no hard sell. Checking the car for every tiny mark was an eye opener. Their staff hurried you around the car drawing attention to even the tiniest mark. Car was good. Return was much more relaxed. Checked there was the same quantity of petrol, had a quick look for new marks and put our bags on the waiting bus. Petrol 'deposit' was returned swiftly and I had an exchange of emails with their customer services as a result of a mistake I had made and found them to be very helpful and understanding. 4* rather than 5* because of the pretty useless guy at the airport on our arrival.
— localshop • October 26, 2017Good value, but beware, you drop off away from the airport and can wait quite a while for a transfer
— Robs • October 25, 2017Good value car hire however excessive pressure to buy their insurance. Reduce My Excess so much better value and straightforward in online process

Slight delay in obtains car but everything from then on was smooth, so we would use the company again.
— Pjs review • September 10, 2017Have used this company a few times & have not occured any problems.
— Walwilde • September 9, 2017I have been using this company for a few years now and had no problems. They seem to have stepped up their game a bit at Alicante - now checking the cars with you before you leave the airport carpark which is good as you are there to argue your point if necessary. If you use them for a few years they will upgrade you to Gold Membership which has added benefits such as no charge for an additional driver and you can avoid the queues when picking up your car. One niggle this year was that although we went for the full/full option the car was only three quarters full when we collected it and although this was explained to us it was very difficult to gauge when it was going to be three quarters full on our return and as such we lost out on about 10 euros or so in petrol costs.
— Andy H • August 27, 2017Excellent service, car was exactly ordered. Much cheaper than other companies, no hard sell for upgrades / ancillaries. Quick process when returning.
— Radders • August 25, 2017It was easy, no waiting on return, received email confirmation no damage within 5 minutes.
— Car Hire Friend • August 14, 2017Excellent customer service. Car was in excellent condition no problems picking car up and dropping off helpful and efficient staff
— Sandymacc • July 31, 2017Very easy hire agreement and quick
— Nelo • July 22, 2017So much better than my previous experience with Goldcar - pleasant staff and very cheap
— ctreggy • July 21, 2017Everything was good ,car inspected when we returned it which is good ,only problem was a lady told us she was waiting for over an hour for shuttle bus and when it did turn up it was free for all ,very un satisfactory
— Mac • July 20, 2017Problems in waiting for the transit bus and a very long (1 hr) delay in getting our car. After that all fine..great car, good price and very prompt turnaround when returning the car, The delay at the start was a pity as otherwise good and a very competitive price.
— Chris • July 16, 2017Tried to palm off a Nissan micra to us although we'd booked a fiesta/corsa/polo as we know they fit the 4 passengers/ 2 cases descriptor. There's no way a micro does and argued as such at the desk, knew wouldn't get two cases in it's I used to drive a micra. They were not for shifting. When we got to the car my fears were confirmed, there was no way 2 cases would fit so we had to return to the desk where SURPRISE a Peugeot 208 was now available. And yes it was in the category we'd paid for and yes it easily fitted two cases in. I suspect centauro try to palm off the micro cars deliberately and they wasted a lot of our time when we were tired and just off the plane.
— Plum • July 14, 2017I enjoyed my holiday and used the hire car without any worry because I knew that I was covered with " reduce my excess" insurance. Very cheap for peace of mind.
— Spicky • July 11, 2017Excellent service and very capable staff, would highly recommend anyone to use these when hiring a car in Malaga.
— holidaysun • July 4, 2017
Great price, easy collection and return
— Ibiza • July 2, 2017Excellent service as always
— Nick • June 30, 2017Excellent efficient service
— Nickname • June 30, 2017Good car and fair price but pickup off-airport - poor directions to courtesy bus, bus late and overcrowded - some people had to get off. On our return, charged for damage we feel was already on car but we failed to check thoroughly on pickup (our fault) and they didn't remind us (though they insist they did/would have done). Glad of our ReduceMyExcess insurance.
— Hawkeye50 • June 25, 2017Offsite service so I thought it would be quicker. We had to wait 15 mins for shuttle bus and 45 mins for the car. When I returned it there was a scuff not s scratch which I hadn't spotted due to the dun. However, tge over zealous centauto employee informed me that I had to pay 180 euros because of the scuff and if I'd taken their insurance our that I wouldn't gave to pay anything. I think There's a link there. I said that I could remove the scuff which I did with a tissue and some spit. Despite removing it she said she new it was there and could still see it. Obviously I disagreed with here and said I wanted tonspeaknwith her supervisor. Off she went and returned saying that I stil had to pay. Again I said for her to get her manager and I said that if he could see it I would pay. She returned with 3 technicians who were unable to find the scuff. She then relented andcsaud thatbtherecwas no charge. Not the end to a holiday that I expected. The car was fine but I believe their staff who check returned vehicles have an agenda and targets to meet set by management.
— Hughie • June 23, 2017Great company and service
— only1ianuk • June 23, 2017Cars in good condition, fair fuel policies, realistic attitude of staff
— frequent traveller • June 23, 2017We were worried that the very cheap car hire would be reflected in the service after a very bad experience with Goldcar in Malaga. This was not the case. The service, straight forward attitude to car hire (especially the little round 25mm circle indicating "nonsense" stone chips or scratches that can be ignored) was superb and honest and fuel deposit returned within a week. (Good initiative "reduce my excess". Most of us are happy to pay a reasonable price for hassle free car hire and less concerned with how many minor scratches or even bumps the "means of transport" has, as long as it works well!)
— Cptnhddck • June 23, 2017No problems with the service so far
