Was worried about all the negative reviews regarding trying to blame you for any small scratch but while the véhicule was thoroughly inspected on return, I did not think he was overzealous.
They would not accept my travel excess insurance and forced me to pay for complete insurance, adding over £200 to our car hire bill. The excess insurance was useless
Never use Goldcar. They are running a scam where they force you to buy insurance at 4 times the price of hiring the car itself. The man at the desk said they needed a £3.5k deposit unless we took their insurance and also said that if we didn't they would definitely find something wrong with the car. Total con, don't use them.
Totally shocking. Waited for over 3 hours for them to sort a car along with everyone else. They use a ticket system which make no sense and the staff are that rude that when you ask you just more or less get told to go away and wait for your number.Car was not what I booked.
Much the same as any other, their full cover is extortionate same as other companies, if they offered a reasonable charge for the cover then you wouldn't end up feeling completely ripped off, I'm glad I discovered Reduce My Excess!.
Easy to find at the airport, easy booking process, car was in a good clean condition, easy to return the car, received final paperwork quickly and no queries!

Unhappy. Poor service. 1). Spent over 20-30 mins arguing with the person on the desk that I didn’t need to pay for their excess waiver because I had alternative insurance. She told me that no insurance will be “valid” they are the only company who can insure their cars. She wants me to pay 147euros. I refused and she was so passive and aggressive but wouldn’t let it go. I had 3 tired children with me and I just wanted to get the car. I had to be almost rude to get her to stop hounding me about the excess. She did everything she could to give me anxiety about damaging the car and having to “full responsibility” for it. 2.) on returning the car, the parking spaces were tight. A man was shouting at my kids to get out the car whilst I was reversing in. He was horrible and aggressive and I will be complaining. I wasn’t able to direct them to a safe space and had to shout back to tell him to back off whilst I could coach them to walk to safe space in a really just car park while k parked up. The he opened the boot, obviously in a hurry to get the check done, and I hadn’t even got our car seats out. I was livid. Never again Goldcar.

We booked our car hire through a third party (DOYOUSPAIN) for the car pick up from goldcar. On arrival into the airport terminal where the hire car companies are based you could see the amount of people waiting to be served. It was horrendous. Actually getting to gold car, they where using a ticket system, that's how many people where waiting. Having got the wrong ticket. We where called within 5 minutes. Happy days. Approaching the desk with paperwork out. We where then told, sorry this desk is for direct bookings only. Not third party. Having got a second ticket 10 minutes later than we should have another 6-10 customers had arrived. We heard the wait was between 1-1 1/2 hours to be seen. At 23.30 at night I wasn't waiting possibly till 1am... So no hire car was had and a taxi for 52km had to be booked. Be very careful who you book with. And how! Lesson learnt!
Generally very good, a little annoying that I paid more for a specific car which was then not available - and would have had to pay more again, but otherwise very good. No washer fluid for windscreen either

All was fine but that appeared to be because I took out the CDW excess protection insurance. Others in front of me in the queue who hadn’t done so were being charged extra to effectively do the same thing. They don’t quibble a thing with me. I have a suspicion that when you have another insurer on your side, they know they might have a battle of claiming damage so they don’t complain about anything but I was nervous they might.
Ripoff merchants, said our fully functioning credit card for the excess holding deposit had been declined & made us pay their excess charge of 35 euros a day!
