Car hire company fine except it was booked through Doyouspain and car hire was full to empty policy which I had not heard of before. They charged us 80 euro for the fuel and 36 euro for them to fill it up which was ludicrous

Told me i can not rent the car as german drivers license experied, which is incorrect! License is a paper style but still valid but needs to be replaced for a new one. A Euro 10 fine is the worst but company did not budge and did NOT refund as via 3rd party (CARRENTAL8.COM). No car, out of money and now have to deal with 3rd party. BEWARE!!!

Absolute scam company. Avoid avoid avoid ! My family booked 3 cars which were advertised as being able to carry 3 suitcases and 5 passengers, we also were meant to be met at the airport to be picked up and taken to collect our cars from the car hire place. No one was waiting for us so we called the company to ask them if anyone was com in g to collect us (15 of us) a small mini bus finally turned up 15/20 minutes later to only be able to fit 4 of us in so they said another bus would be on its way to collect the remaining party. The rest of our party had to wait for our bus to return to them to collect them and because of the lack of seats they had some of us sitting on each others laps! When we arrived at the office they tried giving us 3 Citroen c3 cars which could only just fit 2 suitcases in the boot. We explained that they advertised our category of booking to be able to fit 3 cases. After arguing with the staff about this we ended up having to up grade 2 of the cars to fit more cars in which cost us more than double the original amount per car! They also told us we had to pay for the full tank of fuel including a 30 euro service charge per vehicle and bring the car back empty! Our booking clearly stated that the fuel tanks would be empty on our collection and we would need to fill them up ourselves to how much we needed etc and not that we would be charged for a full tank plus service charge! It took us 2 hours to collect our cars after arriving at Alicante airport! Once we got our cars we took photos and videos of each car because we felt this company were scam artists, thank goodness we did! When we returned with the cars at the end of our 6 night holiday they inspected the cars with a fine tooth comb (minus a magnifying glass!) we were made to feel like we had done something wrong right from the start of arriving back with the cars. On inspection of the car my husband was driving the guy in a suit tried to say that he had scratched the car ! My husband obviously denied this as nothing had happened to the car and show the guy videos and photos of the car we had taken when collected, he put his hands up and said oh my mistake ! On inspection of the car I was driving he didn’t even speak to me and I had to ask him if he was satisfied with the condition of the car he said yes no problem, then a lady colleague who clearly understood English but apparently couldn’t speak it went over my car after him inspecting it ! She kept looking at me looking at the car then used what looked like a bottle of window cleaner liquid a sprayed certain parts of the car and rubbed parts of the car with a cloth, after she finished she looked me up and down with a look on her face like she’d trodden in something! I pulled her up on it she responded in Spanish, I complained to the guy in the suit and said to both of them how disrespectful she was I was livid! Next the inspection of the 3 rd car was one my sister had driven. They tried to say she had scratched one of the wheels so again we protested and showed them videos and pictures to which the guy in the suit then said ok I can see, then the lady colleague went round the car after him and found a smudge like mark on the boot of the car, so again we protested and showed them the video and pictures, they said the mark wasn’t on the videos and Pictures we zoomed in and showed them it was, they said we needed to take a current picture on our phone to compare to the original picture, by this point we were so cross with them we told them to take a Picture to compare but they refused! And said it was our responsibility ! In the end we did and it was clear the mark was there at the start of our hire but the company still refused and said it was unclear! They said they would be holding my sister deposit of £ 1000 euros and it would go to the dispute department to deal with. When I questioned them on why they didn’t and couldn’t provide us with a body map / inventory of the vehicle prior to our hire they said they didn’t have to and it was our responsibility to take pictures and videos at the start of the hire! I told them we did they off our own back because not one member of staff looked over the cars when we collected them! They tried to get us to sign documents at the end of our hire which we didn’t because they couldn’t really tell us what we were signing for. This company are scammers! They ruined the start of our holiday and the end of our holiday and have caused a significant amount of stress to my Family. I have never experienced anything like this before with other companies, please please to anyone thinking of using them DONT and read the reviews which we only found afterwards. This company also hires cars in other countries in Europe and USA. The cars also that we were given for the hire where from Poland not Spanish plates. We will be continuing to fight and get my sisters deposit back, we have proof the mark was already on the car this company just want to take as much money as possible from clients. Absolutely disgraceful and should be shut down.
