Our Mission

The journey of ReduceMyExcess began when co-founder Jon Rebuck travelled across Europe and Asia and rented cars along the way. Jon quickly noticed a pattern of confusing jargon, high costs, and a lack of transparency – particularly surrounding car hire excess waivers.

He realised customers faced an unfair choice. Buy a waiver from the car hire company and still risk limited coverage, or risk no waiver at all and face paying for steep excess fees out of pocket, no matter the extent of the damage or who’s at fault.

Jon wasn’t alone in his vision; his brother Mark faced similar frustrations. Together, these challenges motivated them to create a fairer, more transparent alternative to the expensive rental excess waivers that fell short.

ReduceMyExcess is different. We offer affordable and flexible excess insurance policies with a broader scope of coverage and a higher excess limit. But this is not all we do. Since 2011, the objective of ReduceMyExcess has been to educate. We want to shed light on how the car hire industry operates, decoding jargon and presenting our customers will all their options.
