Easy pick-up at the airport. Return even easier with a key-drop. Nice little Fiat hire, perfect for narrow Jersey roads. Car was in good condition and clean. They don't however tell you they will charge fuel up front. Apparently, this is to comply with Jersey laws, but informing you in advance would be an idea.

Also there was no one at the return station and no clear indication of what to do. There was a note on the door of the cabin although this was closed and the whole area was in the dark

I did not get the excess coverage I wanted from them and my emails went unanswered by “Chloe” even though I expressed my concern that I did not have sufficient coverage particularly in the case of collision damage waiver where I had an excess of £1500. I will be writing a formal complaint about the lack of response to my concerned emails.

In fact, if it hadn’t been for the recommendation I received from someone else who is hiring at the same time, to use yourselves to insure against the excess, I would not have gone ahead with hiring the vehicle. The first problem was trying to find and get to their office. I appreciate it wasn’t Avis‘s fault but there was very little signs and some point in the wrong way you have to go out of the terminal and then back into the car park that in itself was very distressing. We had to wait a long time to be served And yet they were empty desks but clearly not enough staff. Everything was going to cost extra and we had to go through a rigourous inspection of the car. This meant that we spent the whole time in our holiday worrying about whether somebody may bump into our car while it’s parked. So overall, I’m not sure that I would want to hire a car through Avis again.

I could collect my car without waiting using their Quickpass service which was efficient as was the return which was excellent. However, the car's gear lever sleeve was detached, the wrong rear screen wiper had been fitted and their was documentation and property belonging to the, presumably, previous hirer. Sloppy. No record of mileage had been taken resulting them wondering how I had managed to do over 3000km in 5 days.

Also as it’s France, opening hours can be sporadic and not necessarily when you might want to collect or return the vehicle. Insurance Excess was obscene and almost 2/3 price of the hire on top. This is pure price gouging.

We were well attended by staff at the airport and the car was a Jeep Renegade automatic. Full of fuel and a good to car for all the travelling we did. Happy with the whole process. The only exception was upon returning the car there was a small fee to pay with no explanation as to why. That is not good.

We were offered cleaning of the car for 6 euro on return, which we declined as we were 4 adults using the car solely to get from the airport to our destination rather than the cost of a taxi. Prior to returning the car I shook and brushed the mats as where we had got in and out they were dusty with gravel etc. 2 people got out at the nearest petrol station, one to pay one to fuel as required. On inspection at the airport when returning the car we were told that the car was dirty! I couldn’t believe what I was hearing - I explained that this would have been purely from stopping to refuel and there was an insignificant amount of dust on the mat on the drivers side. I was told that this was in the terms of rental and I was given little choice to decline the charge as I expressed my disbelief in this decision. I was also asked to copy/forge my husband’s signature to accept the charges. I again expressed my disagreement with the accusation that the car was dirty at the main desk and again was dismissed with you accepted the terms of rental and had to pay 12 euros charge. The price to hoover out a clean car had doubled. I explained again that I disagreed with the judgement and was just told you accepted the terms of the agreement. I did not however accept the judgement of the inspection or how anyone could refuel a car and not then get back into it to drive!! Without leaving a single mark. I was really disappointed with the whole return process and explained at this point that I would be leaving a negative honest review. I will never use this company again.
