  • Very friendly staff gave clear instruction on return our flight was cancelled due to snow had to rebook car for one day the staff went out of there way, would recommend to friends and family

  • Car pick up was straightforward and simple, however, even though they know I was dropping the car off a different location, there were no drop off instructions provided. As it turned out, the drop off arrangements were complex.

  • Great process was sold as focus or similar but end up with seat arona. Much smaller in the back. Otherwise great car great service very happy........ but didnt need to claim thankfully so cant really comment on reduce my excess!!!!!!!

  • The company was efficient, the car was as advertised. The only problem we encountered was that the key fob battery needed replacing half way through the rental and when I returned the car I took the key back into the office and was ignored by everyone until I spoke up. Poor customer service. Maybe it’s a cultural thing but I hope that they’ll address it

  • It's been a while since I hired a car. I had remembered to independently buy excess cover. Person on desk didn't like this. All around me everyone was being pressure sold extra insurance and breakdown cover. Most people took it and their bill was trebled. I felt very sorry for them. They also charged an extra premium if you were travelling to Northern Ireland even though Northern Ireland has an exemption to the conditions imposed after Brexit, therefore totally impinging on my rights under The Good Friday Agreement.

  • Booked a car as part of a BA holiday package and, by mistake, was landed with a Kia EV6 electric. I have had no previous experience of electric cars so it was a steep learning curve, particularly getting it started. Was sold a Shell Recharge card but couldn't get it activated as wasn't getting an email back. Emailed Shell twice about this but still no activation email. Tried to change it to petrol car but Budget wouldn't budge. Usual scenario - given a piece of paper with car location in a large multi-story carpark. Eventually found it and did a round-car check for any damage despite Budget saying there wasn't a mark on it. Video'ed it as well. On return, followed a large queue of returning cars and was told to leave car with keys in it. I asked a marshalling guy about it being checked for any damage. He said it would be done later by a 3rd. party engaged to check out returned cars for damage - being paranoid about this aspect of car rental having had problems before, I video'ed car again and was certain there was no damage. Whilst awaiting check-in, I received an email from Budget with Damage section totalling £203.89 itemised as wheel scrape @ £93.09, processing fee @ £38 and 'On the ground Vehicle Idle Time' ? Luckily I had time to go back to the Budget desk and 'had a word'. I said there was definitely no damage incurred in the 2 weeks I had the car and what was Vehicle Idle Time? A very pleasant and helpful lady - Mirana - went through the details and went to see the manager. On return, she said that this had all been wiped out so no additional charge. Phew! The Vehicle Idle Time was because the rental was 14 days but returned 8.6hrs. late. This was scrapped because it was part of a holiday package. The scraped wheel charge was either not believed or a goodwill gesture. It was lucky I could go back to the Budget desk and remonstrate this. If the email had arrived when I was back in the UK, it would have been a nightmare to contest this. Based on this issue, I would be happy to go with Budget again.

  • The overall experience was positive, we called upon arrival and our family of 6 was picked up from the airport in around 10 minutes and taken straight to the office where we completed the paperwork. I had opted not to take the additional insurance offered (instead arranging separate cover for this) and, unlike some other companies, I was not pressured into taking it. I also purchased the e-vignette (required for highway travel) which was offered at a fair price and removed the need for me to arrange to by this from other sources. We were given the keys to the vehicle and invited to take photos and make a video of it to record any damage before we left which we did. It was supplied with a full tank of fuel (not part filled like some others) so this removed any guesswork when returning it and the vehicle itself was the same model as we booked and was in overall good condition for its age (around 3-4 years old), there were no issues with it when we picked it up or throughout our holiday. We were able to arrange a slightly later return than we had originally booked for (still within the hours that the office was open) and there were no issues with our return. The vehicle was inspected whilst we were there and I was told that there were no problems, we were taken back to the airport and once we returned home there were no further issues or concerns raised. Minor points are that the office is very small and if it's busy you may have to wait outside (there is a covered area and toilet facilities at the hotel next door) and you may also need to wait for a return shuttle to be booked so don't leave it until the last minute before you return the vehicle. Also the type of vehicle we hired (Ford Tourneo Custom) required a high deposit (circa €3000). Though I was made aware of this when booking, just bear it in mind as this will be "blocked" on your credit card and the hold remained for over a week after we returned. All in all a positive experience and I would have no concerns about using Budget again.

  • Pre booked hire car with Budget, when arrived car collection was completed quickly and we were on the road to our villar. The car was a brand new Seat Arona, and carried the family comfortably on our excursions. Drop of was also easy, the process completed very quickly. Nice job Budget.
