Picked up @Glasgow airport and taken to car rental . We had paid on line . Company asked for credit card which my husband (as driver ) was not able to produce as his cards had been compromised only 2 days before . He had access to new card via phone but not hard copy . Car rental would not accept this - or mine despite us sharing same the same name address and ann account. They told us that if he paid a further £175 on debit card for their insurance we could have the car (we had already paid for plus excess ) They would not accept my husbands debit card as it was to expire at the end of the month ( despite the bank insisting that it was still valid until the end of the month) We were left stranded at 10 o’clock at night in the middle of nowhere were not offered any help or solution . The operative basically didn’t give a damn. We finally got a taxi a further £35 cost . Not a nice experience for s couple in their 60’s . Will be pursuing this
