When I researched the hire company before booking, there were people giving warnings about the company making unfair charges etc. I had no such problems, all went well and the price was very good (especially when compared to the alternatives). We made sure to clean the car ourselves before handing it back; not a professional job, just common sense stuff. My only negatives would be that there was a bit of a delay at the pickup desk in Cairns (a result of the airport pickup, as everyone arrives at the same time) and it took a little while to find them in Brisbane as it is quite tucked away. All in all a nice no-frills kind of option - and the little yellow license plate surrounds meant I could easily spot fellow East Coast car drivers, which gave me something to keep my mind active on the LONG drives down the East coast.
