  • Absolutely terrible Did not get my car

  • Unexpected extra charges for crossing a border, plus airport fees, plus tax more than doubled original cost. Also they tried to confuse us into extra insurance charges. Return was shambolic with no directions. Remains to be seen if we get all the deposit back.

  • My previous experience with Goldcar in Majorca was awful, this was much better no hard sell on insurance and friendly staff!

  • There was damage to the car that was not noted on the form by them at pick up. The car was located on another level of a multi storey carpark to thd office and it was very dark, which made checking the car very difficult. Luckily I took photos otherwise I would have been liable.

  • Not very helpful when you don’t take out their insurance!

  • Given lower class car than paid for and wanted me to pay to upgrade to the car I should’ve had! I had to pay 1100 euro on my debit card as I didn’t have my credit card on me. They’ve already taken the money so let’s see what happens when I return the car!

  • Staff very unhelpful when they find out they are not selling you their own full cover insurance!

  • The agent on the desk when picking up the car did not recognise the additional insurance I had purchased from your company and became agitated and abrupt when I did not want to buy their additional insurance protection. They continued to take the full protection amount from my debit card, £1478.00, which I was told could take up to 28 days to return when I returned the car.

  • Goldcar are competitive in their pricing and cars normally in good order. However do check for damage and especially tyre wear. Photograph car before and after hire. Desk staff pressured me relentlessly to buy the additional insurance. Just politely and firmly say no, and ensure your credit card has room for the deposit. We hire from Goldcar three or four times a year, but this is first with me as main driver. Staff don’t press my husband for their insurance as he’s on their screen as never accepting it! Goldcar is OK, but beware of the wrinkles. REDUCE MY EXCESS WILL LOOK AFTER ANY DSMAGE PAYMENTS. Never had a problem.

  • All very efficient. Only thing I'd say is that the crosses they'd put on the paperwork for previous bumps on the car were very slightly in the wrong place so when we returned the car, they said we'd made new bumps. Thankfully we'd made photos and done a video of the car on collection. I suggest others always do the same.

  • I have sent an email to goldcar themselves complaining about an out of hours charge of 40 euros made to us on arrival at murcia airport on the 2nd june 2025. The charge was a complete rip off as we were waiting in a queue with several other customers and as per the Web site we were eithin opening hours but the guy behind the desk said the office had had to remain open because of late check in. Also the key and go was not working at the airport .

  • No issues at all, desk was in the Terminal, car was in the car pack opposite, no large queues. Returning the car was quick & simple.

  • Easy pick up and return.

  • Shockingly bad company - as is usually the case, they wanted us to take their premium insurance, which we declined as we have an excess policy. Upon return, the agent was polishing the boot/bumper, desperately trying to find something damage. She found the tiniest scratch, which you can even see on a video or photo, and I’ve been automatically charged €154 for this “damage”. With kids, a flight to catch etc, they know you can’t push it too much, so these scammers get away with it. Don’t touch them, they have a 1* rating for a reason.

  • Lovely car, easy process. No problems whatsoever.

  • Very straightforward pick up and lovely staff. A nice new car. Good value.

  • Okay but charged us for the whole period to travel to another island despite us having ferry tickets showing we were only going for three days

  • Goldcar was a very budget friendly solution for my transport needs during my stay. The check in process was long winded, and the car i was provided with was not what was agreed on the website, but it was a clean car of similar category. There was lots of marks on the car which were documented but not repaired, and i had to add some extra scuff marks to the report before taking the car out, if not, this could have resulted in a hefty fine! Would return to Goldcar again!

  • Very High pressure sales for their excess insurance, I've hired many cars but this woman was extremely persistent & told me that gold car does not except outside companies providing excess insurance. She also said any scratch would be €500 each! I took their rip off insurance because I couldn't get "vip car's" to answer the phone to help me. So I end up paying 2 companies for excess insurance. Scammers
