Customer reviews for InterRent
Ok. Slow with paperwork. Dezk unmanned at check-in and had to hsng about
— Johnm • July 2, 2025The rental from Rentalcars.com (part of InterRent) was the cheapest. But you get what you pay for, service was poor and the car was not in a great shape with lots of external damage, a poorly performing engine and worst of all ‘spongy’ brakes.
— Jb • October 20, 2022I booked with Interrent only to find they were now operating as Goldcar, both apparently now owned by Europcar. I may not have booked had I known due to a previous poor experience with Goldcar. However, they were inexpensive and the collection and return were very straightforward; my only concern being the lack of explanation regarding the money taken as a deposit for petrol and potential damage. My particular agent didn’t mention their own excess cover, very unusual as I could hear the usual aggressive sales pitch to other customers. I did however inform them I had my own cover. Another point, they actually took money off my card rather than blocking a set amount, this could be problematic if you are charged fees by your bank and don’t get a competitive exchange rate. Luckily I have a no fee bank card so may actually be in profit as the £ dropped in value while there...but it could work the other way and you’d lose out. I haven’t yet been reimbursed but I presume that’s typically slow admin on their part. The car was fine and , so long as I get my deposits properly refunded, I’m happy.
— The Professional holidaymaker • October 9, 2022Just returned car back on 24/8/22 and so far experience is good and no problem. Out of office key drop box available which was plus.
— NAQ • August 24, 2022great
— Joe • August 8, 2022good service, getting tired of them trying to push full insurance when i have told them we have excess cover.
— good as gold • June 25, 2022Good no issues
— Ginge • June 5, 2022The office is closed so you have to collect keys from Goldcar who deliver the rudest service I have ever experienced. There is no waiting area and you will be there a looong time. Check Google, we waited 90 minutes. Complete rubbish, even the off airport shuttle service is much better.
— Jamie • September 21, 2020Extremely unhelpful and stressful checkin for the car with a very hard sell on extra insurance. To collect the car 2hrs earlier they wanted 280Euros! At no point were we advised to return the car clean. Upon return they charged 60Euro cleaning fee when we had pictures to prove it was not dirty. Worst awful company, do not recommend.
— CWT • August 18, 2020Watch out guys, don't hire cars there! When we were at the information desk, the employee told us the total cost of the car would be 49,90 for 1 day. We asked if this is surely all, and he said yes. A few days later I checked my bank account and saw they booked 90 € in total, 40 € more! When called, they said it's for additional fees. These fees they never mentioned at all before! Also, the fees are ridiculous, like a gasoline fee, even though we paid all gasoline ourselves and returned the car fully fueled! The service ignores emails and offers no solutions what so ever. Will never rent a car at InterRent again, and don't recommend anyone else to do so. Rather go to a trustworthy company that tells exactly what they charge.
— Michael_Bach • April 11, 2020Very efficient and clear on options. Car was in good condition and no surprises on return. Excellent value for money on this rental.
— Junk • March 9, 2020When we got to the airport she said I had to leave 1400€ deposit which I didn’t have. When then said I could pay 158€ non refundable deposit plus 134€ fuel which would get back if I returned the car full which I did. I tried to explain I had taken out extra insurance separately but she said it didn’t mean anything. Had to take car but now still not received 134€ fuel deposit back. Rubbish attitude of staff and when I call just get cut off
— KarenG • March 4, 2020Avoid this scamming company! They overcharged me over 66 Euro for "car cleaning" and fuel refill (the tank was full). You even can't connect them via their website.
— Avoid_interrent • February 25, 2020Never had such a hard sell with scare tactics, and aggressive with it, don't bother with these cow boys
— . I k • February 14, 2020cheap, no frills, easy collection and re-delivery to airport
— silverbad • February 11, 2020Service at initial pickup quick. As soon as they saw my certificate of insurance they didn’t even try and sell me extra cover
— Twirly • January 30, 2020Hired from InterRent as reviews where good but when got to there desk it daid go to Goldcar instead. They tryed to get me to take oit there insurance at 95 euro and told me the one i have with Reduce my Excess is no good and not valid i argued it out and after showing all my paperwork declined there insurance. They was very preasurising to try and get you to have there insurance. They try to frighten you into taking it.
— Deano • January 26, 2020SCAM!!!! I avoiding gold car as been scammed off them in Malta , only to find out interrent are the same company, I booked extra insurance online only to be told it wasn't worth the paper it written on and I needed to buy another insurance at nearly £200, very misleading !!
— Lee • January 15, 2020I have used Interent on numerous occasions at both Alicante and Malaga Airports They have an office on the airport and they run a fleet of clean modern cars I use my reduce my excess policy every time and enjoy some great deals on rentals The interent website is clear and you can custom build your rental depending on your needs Overall great option whilst in Spain
— Bezzer M • January 6, 2020All went well, no problems
— Milt • December 11, 2019
No problems, all went well
— Milt • December 11, 2019Not happy with the excess insurance I had taken out.insisting it was not covering all events. Recommend I spent a further 157 euros. I insisted I would take my chances. No accident no damage so no claim hence not sure how good my cover was.
— Jeff • November 19, 2019We rented a car with InterRent on internet for Fuerteventura. About 10 € a day, it seemed ok. But when we arrived, the office was already closed and we are redirected to Goldcar. There, we are almost forced to take an insurance which costs 115 € by ensuring that 80% of the roads were in bad condition, especially to go to La Pared. Which was completely wrong! They are very dishonest and they got annoyed when we complained back, calling us liars! A huge lack of professionalism! In addition, when we arrived we had to pay unforeseen costs such as office fees and other unjustified taxes. In total we paid € 175 for 4 days rental, which is € 44 per day, it is overpriced, especially for the canaries!
— MK • November 14, 2019Very good service and also very friendly
— Blackmush • November 12, 2019Fab, a bit of a wait when we arrived but straight forward, no hard sell and easy hand over and sign off
— Shelly • November 4, 2019Waiting over 2 months for refund. They have not replied or acknowledged my emails. It is absolutely terrible that they can take ones hard earned money, particularly as I am a pensioner and cannot afford to be out of pocket.
— belcoo • October 31, 2019Good service
— Spotty11 • October 28, 2019I can only say please stay away from this Scam Company. We had a very bad experience yesterday and saw some other family have the same problem. We had booked the rental car via Ryanair website. They confirmed the last price with total inclusive around 180€ for 5 days. Our credit card was charged €100, the rest will be charge when we come to pick up car. Believe me, when you hear the answer from the staffs of Intercar company that €100 just for your reservation. After counting down they asked we pay around nearly €400 more!!!! We lose €100 for only a reservation email 😄 I wish I have google about Ryanair and Intercar before. Please stay away from Intercar!
— Lynn • October 20, 2019Worst experience of my life, staff were abusive and aggressive. Tried to make me buy extra insurance even though I had already excess cover in place.
— Lulu • October 13, 2019Interrent has joined up with Goldcar. Goldcar obviously train their staff to push their insurance, (that you don't need to take). Now Interrent are at it too. I have my own annual insurance so refused to take their insurance. The elderly couple next to me were visibly upset and ended up get stung for 200 Euros. Little did I realise I was going to be stung for 200 Euros two weeks later. On returning the car to level 2 at Alicante airport two weeks later, it was carnage. We were eventually sent up to level 3. I went into the office and asked the guy to check our car but he asked if it was full of fuel to which I replied yes. He then said he'd take the keys and it was okay for me to leave. 5 hours later on landing in the UK I received an email with a picture of a small scratch measured against some sort of standard measurement disc. This scratch was not there when we dropped the car off and all you could see was a section of car that could be any car. I called them to complain about the 200 Euros charge they had put on my card and they've obviously got staff trained to be nice and apologise and basically fob you off. The lady told me because the man refused to check my car I'd get my money back. Well, guess what? 2 weeks later they told me they were keeping the money. This company used to be good when it was Interrent but now that they've joined Goldcar they are tarnished. Goldcar are a bunch of conmen trying to exploit people. Use Avis, Budget or Alamo. They'll be more expensive but they run a professional service. Please don't use any company associated with Goldcar, they will stress you out.
— David2104 • October 10, 2019Quick transfer from airport to rental depot, painless procedure for getting car remember to have a good look around vehicle and account for any damage.
— Barney • October 3, 2019Terrible. Absolute scam merchants. Avoid like the plague
— Chris • October 1, 2019Hire car company was good and the car was a good quality. We had to pay €25 extra to drive car into Germany (only 3 miles away from Salzburg) which was not mentioned on their T&C’s
— Matty C • October 1, 2019Scratched and bashed up car, clean but tatty on the inside. Scare tactics used at the counter to make you pay even more for their own insurance.
— eftee • September 28, 2019Avoid unless you want to be conned. I used Interrent in August 2019 and I am 300 Euros out of pocket at the moment. I had the Super Relax Insurance cover added to my bill without me noticing. I always take out additional insurance to cover excess with a third party company and this year was no exception. I was not asked if I wanted the insurance it was just added. I was presented with a glass screen to sign so couldn't check the details properly. The Rep made it look like I was just paying a deposit for fuel and for any accidental damage. I have written to Interrent. They replied saying that all their Reps explain very carefully that customers have 2 options: 1. Pay a deposit; or 2. Choose the Super Relax Yeah right! So I chose the extra insurance even though I had already purchased it from a third party - I don't think so. This company seems to turn a blind eye to its employees acting fraudulently!
— AngryandOutofPocket • September 27, 2019reasonable
— Phil • September 25, 2019This company is an absolute rip off. Flight diverted and delayed due to bad weather. When we got there about 5 hours late they said the car hire was cancelled as I hadn't turned up on time. In order to get the car I had to pay again. On checking their paperwork I was given the same car I had originally prepaid for and they charged me again showing it as an upgrade. Disgraceful. Never use this company or it's subsidiary Goldfarb.
— Big J • September 23, 2019Original car was rubbish upgraded but car was in poor condition it was filthy
— El cid • September 21, 2019Slightly troubling that they don’t check the vehicle upon return whilst you’re present.
— Russ • September 15, 2019Don't get even close to their desk! this company is built on the scam! I'm not sure they even have got real cars to rent you... I ordered and paid for two cars in Spain, Malaga and they actually did everything that i would not take the cars, Money back? Nope... They are using all scam tricks to not give the money back! Also, stay far from Cartrawler... they are going hand to hand with this scam!!!!!
— Lior • September 10, 2019
Extremely slow and inefficient check out process. Long waiting times. Poor direction to collection area.
— PeteS • September 8, 2019Ref: AT423188000 Stay away of this scam company!!! No end to the cheating methods. Arrived late due to flight delay, "they did not reserve the car"..., had a draconian fine of 800 Eur for the smallest scratch or dent, even though I have bought all the insurances. Dont mess with InterRent. Alon
— Alon S • August 28, 2019Be aware that InterRent are the Ryanair of car hire. My (prepaid) booking said 800-900 euro excess. But car provided through Gold Car, and so their excess of 1,100 euro applied. With excess insured then relaxed, but principle of changing terms paid for booking is wrong and disturbing. Bit of a wait (~45 mins) to collect car. If read small print there are lots of extra charges could easily incur (>59 mins late returning car is 40+ euro). But car itself was absolutely fine and consistent with the group I had booked (actually slightly larger car than I was expecting).
— Ian P. • August 27, 2019Excellent experience, professional from start to finish, not a long wait to collect car , we had arranged our own excess insurance which did not cause a problem, there were no other charges added. On return the car was checked over and signed off giving peace of mind that everything was in order , pleasant staff. The blocked amount on the credit card had been released today, three days after return, last year with a different rental company we waited three weeks! So very well done
— John • August 21, 2019Good service with no problems. Car had a number of scratches and dents but these were noted and didn’t affect us
— Jimmy • August 18, 2019Do not use this company. They fraudulently take insurance payments for insurance you don't need by lying that it will just be blocked until car is returned. I have raised a complaint with the fraud department at my credit card company. DO NOT USE THEM
— DO_NOT_USE_THESE_CONARTISTS • August 18, 2019A little bit confusing as they don’t appear to have any obvious signs in the airport’s car hire section. Once I’d found their place they were very welcoming and professional. Now I know where they are, I’d use them again.
— David • August 10, 2019Awful company and avoid like a plague I prepaid for my hire car and when I arrived 40 minutes late, after my flight being delayed the agressive woman at Interrent tried to charge me an additional 400 euros ontop of the 460 euros I had already paid. The woman said that the car had been sent back (lie). When I looked at my contract it said that I had a three hour window in case of delays. The awful woman deliberately kept me and my children waiting 2.5 hours before providing me with the keys. The only reason she finally released the keys and didnt charge me anymore money was because I had booked with Do You Spain and they told her she couldnt charge me an additional fee During my 2.5 hour wait, I noticed that she was trying to over charge every customer in the queue. They are thieves Furthermore, when I finally got the car, it was battered and needed a service Ive used loads of hire car companies in Ibiza and Ive been coming to the island for over 20 years. Please dont book with Interrent, you will end up out of pocket, stressed and annoyed at the start of your holiday
— Danilo • August 9, 2019INTER RENT / GOLDCAR (they also call themselves GOLDCAR on some websites so be aware) they are the worst company I’ve ever had to deal with extremely rude staff. Very stressful experience. I wish I reviewed them before using them. They are a con artist company. We paid online what seems to be complete and the total amount to pay to hire a car in Maderia. There was also an option to pay an extra £7 a day to take out insurance through the broker which we paid for. On arrival of picking up the car it seemed that the insurance is completely invalid according to Interent/ Goldcar hire. They charged us a further €40 for giving us a full tank of petrol which is non refundable regardless of whether you bring back a full tank or not, a further €70 deposit for the petrol in the tank, which will be refunded if you bring back a full tank (the car was a 1.2 litre there is no way a full tank cost €70). We used 3/4 of the tank and filled it back up just before giving it back as we did not want to give this company a single penny more. The cost of 3/4 was €42 so no where near €70. And they wanted a further €186 for their insurance policy or a €1200 deposit on a credit card. Which they rudely stated if you do not wish to pay the €186 for the insurance policy then out of the €1200 deposit 1 scratch on the car will cost €600. The car had several bumps and scratches from previous customers that clearly shows they are not using the money to repair the cars. She also said that the credit card company will charge us interested fees as they hold the deposit for 30 days which will incur fees with the bank I couldn’t believe how rude she was being, it was like she was suggesting that they purposely hold your deposit for a long time so that we incur interest charges just so that we would pay the €186. We just wanted to cancel the car hire but was completely trapped and had no choice but to continue with them. The staff are extremely rude about it all, they really want to up sell their insurance policy which clearly doesn’t get used to fix their cars. The cost of hiring this car in total WAS NOT cheaper than hiring from a more reputable company in the end. I regret using them and will never again use them STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS. I will be spreading this comment where ever I can. They also have 7.4 trustpilot rating on their website this is a complete lie I’m not sure how they get away with that in fact I’m not sure how they are allowed to get away with any of this.
— TM • August 3, 2019Dirty unwashed car with 17 marked damages and fuel tank was nor really full. Found further damage on checking the vehicle. Was charged Euros 200 for existing damage on return of the car and the money was taken from my credit card without my agreement. My complaints that the damage was already on the car before I hired the vehicle was completely ignored by Goldcar/Interrent . DoYouSpain the company I used to hire the car also ignored my correspondence and clearly unable or willing to assist. I am absolutely discussed by all this and cannot warn people enough to stay away from Goldcar/Interent. You will get mugged! and DoYouSpain does not seem to be much better
— Lambert • July 30, 2019Great to deal with. Easy process. Trustworthy. Deposits unblocked within a day.
— Max • July 29, 2019I booked the car through the Ryanair website and bought the insurance at the same time. Arriving at the Barcelona airport, the guy immediately submitted me a payment of 217 euros. I asked for explanations and he told me that 127 euros were for bail for petrol and the other 100 for airport charges and insurance. I replied that I already had the insurance and then, annoyed, told me that I should have blocked a deposit of 1100 euros on my card for a month. In addition, for this operation the PIN of the card was required, which I did not remember. After a bit of bickering I realized I could find the PIN on the site of my card and it did. At this point the guy told me that by inserting the card the PIN request was not displayed and therefore it was not possible to proceed. Moral of the story I had to buy insurance spending much more than what I would have spent with leading rental companies. I marvel at Ryanair, which has among its partners these commercially incorrect operators.
— vitt61 • July 26, 2019Helpful and efficient in their dealings with us and a swift process of handover on our return
— The Edge • July 25, 2019I have just returned back from Spain after renting a car for a week from InterRent, Alicante Airport, Spain. After checking my credit card bill I have found that I have been charged the following additional charges that I was not informed about, €20 euro for picking a diesel vehicle over a petrol (I was not even asked if I wanted a petrol vehicle). An out of hours opening fee of €40 (I picked that up at 11.30pm after waiting over 30 mins to pick it up). Within 15 mins of picking the car up an Adblue light came on so I was charged €30 for Adblue to be added (why should I pay for other people’s Adblue, shouldn’t this have been topped up by InterRent before I picked it up?) And finally I was charged €13.97 a Premium Office Fee, this is due to the office being in the airport it appears we have to pay extra for this privilege. I probably hire a minimum of 12 cars + pa and never before I have been hit with additional charges like InterRent have charged. I have tried to contact InterRent to raise my grievance but you can only email support and nobody comes back to you. The funny thing is that InterRent weren’t even the cheapest, I always go with a mid range company just so that I receive a good service. STAY WELL CLEAR of InterRent
— John • July 19, 2019I was charged an extra 49 euros at the desk for no particular reason, despite having prepaid the car rental and being informed that I would only have £3.81 to pay (local charges). I have opened a dispute with the company. Staff were offhand on pick up and rude on drop off. Have used Inter Rent before but since being taken over by Goldcar they have lost any customer service skills. Very disappointed with it and would not use them again.
— Adrienne • July 17, 2019I booked a car with InterRent through Auto Europe for 2 weeks from 22nd June 2019. On arrival at the InterRent office we were faced with a long queue. Eventually when we got to the front the staff refused to accept my credit card because it didn't have my full forenames on it. It had my full initials on it, which matched my full name on both my driver's license and my passport. My address was also on my license and passport, the same address as the credit card is registered at but they still refused to give us the car. Another rental company in the same complex accepted the card with no problems. I did ring Auto Europe at the time but they were unable or unwilling to help me. Now that we are home and have complained to Auto Europe they have made up a story about how I fraudulently tried to use a credit card that wasn't mine to cover the excess. We actually tried to use my wife's card which has her full name on it but they didn't accept this either. This is a scam which means InterRent can keep the fee paid to them but not rent out the car. Auto Europe have chosen to believe their version of events because they don't want to refund the money I paid them or compensate me. Avoid InterRent and Auto Europe at all costs.
— Rocky Rabbit • July 17, 2019Frustrating that we were charged a cleaning fee despite cleaning the car prior to drop-off. As it was an automatic drop off without process by which to discuss the car/issues I had no choice to argue this point. I have not yet found a way to contest this extra charge as the receipt was emailed to me from a 'do not reply' email address.
— HtotheD • July 15, 2019First of all, making people pay 1350€ as a fee if you don't get an insurance is not something "optional", because, as you might imagine, not a lot of people have that amount of money to just spare. Second, if a customer says the car's clutch is not working properly, you should replace the car immediately and not suggest to "push it a little harder". Third, since you're basically forcing people to buy insurance from you, you should at least have a good one: instead of making someone wait in the middle of the road for tow for an hour, and then another hour for a taxi, maybe just take a new car to the customer right away. And maybe don’t charge them for the tank not being full, you know the car not being able to work and all. I don’t think I was expected to drag it to the nearest gas station, was I? Overall super disappointed in the whole service, never using it again, never recommending it to any one. Specially not in Portugal. Aside from one employee, not only was everyone super unprofessional, they were rude and impolite as well.
— nassermendes • July 10, 2019Our experience of this company was dire. What a dreadful start to our holiday. Disgraceful customer service with a distinctly couldn't care less attitude. Arrived to collect car (booked through Auto Europe) to find large queue, wait time was a minimum of one and half hours. Some were told they could pay 50 Euros for express checkout (still they waited 1 and 1/2 plus hours). Main focus of reps is to scare customers in to taking out extra insurance cover (180 euros) by warning of risks if they don't. This is what took the time it seems. Told car must be returned clean, that we should return it as received or we pay 50 euros. During our long wait, we got to know some in the queue who warned us of a previous experience in Portugal with them: scratches and minor dents that were present at time of collection and which were claimed by InterRent to be caused by the customer on their return. So forewarned when finally picking up our car, we took photos of a number of minor scratches on the bodywork and a stain on the seat, insisting also that the rep. take photographs so we couldn't be blamed. Returned the car yesterday at 8.30 to find a large queue with glum faces yet again and no-one available to inspect our car, only a deposit letterbox with which to drop in the keys. Having lost all trust in them, we insisted they check it before we left to catch our flight and eventually found someone who (we hope) checked it off. We wait to see if they return our deposit. Their whole modus operandi is to get customers to pay over and above the rental hire cost. Far better to pay a little extra through a more reputable company for peace of mind.
— Jannew • July 6, 2019
they used to be so so when it was independent - now that it is part of goldcar they are simply fraudulent. I hire cars weekly, on collection they tried to make up extra charges explaining them incorrectly to add pressure. On return I returned the car full - was told all was ok and signed. then charged 50 euro for refilling and a few euros for the fuel that it was supposedly short. an awful company and one to avoid.
— jon • June 28, 2019Poor. Little instructions given, rude staff and trying to blag 120 euros for their own insurance. Car ok though.
— James • June 27, 2019Trouble free pick up and drop off, good car.
— Joff • June 24, 2019On initial booking, I paid a deposit and opted for no excess insurance. When they took the balance of the rental a week before collection, they also took unwanted insurance payment. They did refund this later. On collection of the car, I showed my insurance certificate but two days later a charge appeared on my bank account for the insurance. To date they have refused to refund the insurance. I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY (Interrent/Goldcar) AGAIN

— nataliaa • June 11, 2019Dont't touch this company with a barge pole. Scam company ever. Rented a car for 3 days returned it after 2 days because my sister had a car I used. Parked the car the whole time it was rented. when I returned the car they came over to check for damages, she checked the fuel gauge and then straight to the front left wheel rim cover and took pictures of an obscure scratches you wouldn't even know they existed unless you knew they were there and nothing else. you can tell she knew the scratches were there, they were old scratches which been there for months. you can obviously tell a new scratch from old, and they are charging me 360 Euro from my credit card deposit for an obscure scratches on a rim cover WHICH I KNEW 100% it wasn't done by me! I wonder how much a new a fiat rim cover cost? I wouldn't be writing this if I knew I did the scratches because I had a third party insurance to cover that, but the point is, if I hadn't had an insurance to cover that, they were going to rob me of my hard earn cash I sweat for for something THEY KNEW I didn't do. Scam company keep away!
— Sam • June 2, 2019Quick pick up and drop off. Tried to sell me Excess insurance although I showed them that I had it. Weren’t happy.
— Cold & damp • June 1, 2019The only words that can describe this “company” are BIG THIEVES. It is almost unimaginable that someone can do work as they do, and still be on the market. This is our experience with them: We rented a car for 7 days with one baby seat. The first thing that was very unpleasant surprise for us, was the fact that you must have 1200e on some credit card to be used as deposit for car insurance or to pay 200e on spot and be “fully secured”. This is not fully described in terms of condition that you can read on internet, so be prepared. We decided to pay 200e and it is being good decision – I will write below why. Second step, even if fuel reservoir was on reserve (we literally barely had enough to go on the first gas station) we payed deposit of 130e need for full reservoir with explanation that they put a note in contract that reservoir is almost empty so we should back car to them also with empty reservoir. Third step… The guy from reception desk just give us baby seat, without any other instructions. We try to install it by self and in the middle of that process, some other man came to us and start yelling that installation of the seat is his responsibility. The funy thing is the fact that he did not know how to do it and at the end my husband did it. The car itself was more or less OK. Still in good condition but neglected (without windscreen washer fluid, wipers in very bad conditions etc.). The agony was continued when we came to get the car back. First, guy came out to check if the car is Ok. He starts to looking and run the grimaces and write something… In some moment someone else come and say (in French): “It is OK, they paid fully assurance”, and minut after that, the first guy said that is OK, and that the car does not have anything. In translation, and as I writed before, it was good decision to pay those 200e extra because in opposite they would find some imaginary and old scratch or something else… The good thing is also that even if we know French, we communicated with them on English so they were very relaxed with comments. This is not the end. We asked for returning of deposit for fuel. They said, do not warry, we already did it, you will receive email as confirmation. We left, but since we had lot of time until our flight, and did not receive any email, my husband went again to them and get explanation that…OK, email maybe will not be send but there is no reason to be worry!!! Can you imagine what kind of thieves and liars are they!! My husband asked for some official paper to be signed by them as a guaranty but they said that it is not possible but left him to do photo of computer screen with all data inside the program that they use and where indeed is written that 130e should be returned. We came home and after couple of days, 130e was still blocked on the credit card. We called the bank, they check with InterRent and released total amount, and we thought that is the end…. No…Two days after, my husband received text message that amount of 130e is paid to the InterRent. Can you imagine!! They practically STOLE our money. Thay did not block money - they used our data and did transcation in the name of us. We sent emails on all address that we can found from this company but no one reply. At the end, just one advice: Do not ever have anything with this company!! p.s. We reported the whole case to the bank and they filed a lawsuit against internet fraud
— Jovana • May 30, 2019Worst experience ever with car renting. They made me to take another insurence even though I had it while booking the car online. So many other things as well. Be aware of this rental company.
— Deep • May 10, 2019Gran Canaria Airport. InterRent charged me 750 Euro for no reason, the worst I've experienced. At arrival I got a car which was failure, there was a warning signal on the driver's panel. An hour later, they gave me another car when I noted the failure warning signal. However when I returned the car, they told me to park the car in the parking area and leave the keys on the front-desk, they told me you are good to go. I asked them again to check the car before I leave the parking, they said it's not necessary. However two days later Interrent charged my Visa card with 750 Euro, claiming there are some scratches on the front side doors. I have rent the car fully covered with CDW insurance through the Rentalcars. Now Rentalcars tell me they are disputing the charges with Interrent. I still not received any single piece of evidence from Interrent. Please, avoid this car rental company, FRAUD-WARNING
— M. H. Demneh • May 3, 2019Don't trust in this company's low prices. They will lock around 1000 euros as a deposit and if you don't take pictures of the car or don't properly drop-off the vehicle they will charge you. I had to call and email them several times, send them the pictures and videos of the initial status of the car, otherwise they would have charged me the whole deposit. They have a systematic fraud process. Don't trust them.
— Gags • April 23, 2019Dishonest company. Hidden fees, miss selling, providing faulty car, requiring more information than any other rental company, rude staff are just some of the experiences I had renting a car from interRent. Best avoided, stay with the big rental companies and while the headline rates will be slightly more the overall cost with be significantly less. Will have to dispute fees with this company through MasterCard and waste further time on the issues they have caused.
— Brendan • April 20, 2019Awful from start to finish - and still paying it now I am back. Long wait at the hire desk. Long walk to the car park to collect the car. Another huge queue. Car seats provided but not fitted and no instructions given as to how to fit them in a very poorly lit car park where we could hardly see what we were doing. We flew from the UK to Malaga and collecting the car took longer than the flight itself. I have now checked my credit card bill and have been arbitrarily charged £211 now I am back - I have no idea what for. There was no formal check out or check in procedure so I took pictures of the car to prove there was no damage and have lodged a formal complaint.
— Danny • April 16, 2019Avoid this company! I brought our car back in a completely fine condition which means no damage occured during our rental period of 9 days. Two days after we brought the car back I found an email in my spam box from them with accusations The car has two new damages in the paint. One in the front and one in the back. They sent photos with a lot of reflections from the light tubes in the parking garage, dust and a lot of lack of focus in the pictures. The pictures are showing nothing and with very much imagination you can see some traces in the dust wich they call damage. To my opinion these guys are real betrayers. First when we got to their counter desk I was forced to sign that I occupy 1200,- euro on my credit card as a deposit for them. I read a few lines of their general conditions which they didn’t want to give me a copy of. The content was like... if the car would have a break down due to lack of service from their side... I should come up for the tow away costs. And more things like that... Don’t make business with them. They are not ok at all.

— MichaelF • April 12, 2019InterRent worst car hire company ever, avoid at all costs, spent 3 hours at the airport not 1 person in front of us walked away with a car or an argument. Staff at desk Ane and Yolande extremely rude. Told that the insurance that we had booked was not valid and we had to pay 124 euros otherwise we couldn't take the car away and a deposit of 103 euros for the fuel. We returned the car back completely full and they accepted this at the airport only to not refund us the money and when we called to the office who apparently couldn't deal with complaints said we had returned it back half full, complete liars and frauds. Please if you read this do not hire a car from them as I do not want the same thing to happen to you
— Robbed Rob • April 5, 2019DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! They take your money and give you no car. Please read: we rented a car from this company through Expedia and everything was supposed to be ‘confirmed’ when we arrived late in the evening, apart from the fact that they were just plain rude, they told us that is was absolutely impossible to give us a car without a credit card. We then explained to them that when we booked on Expedia there was no mention of this and the money was deducted, the guy replied ‘its not the first time we have this problem with expedia.’ I have worked with Expedia and know that they only write online what the company tells them to, so the fact that they have not rectified this problem is already alarming and unprofessional. The man then told us to call expedia for a refund as he couldnt do anything (very useless at his job.) we then called Expedia who told us that interrent was supposed to refund us and that we needed to call them. We then called them and they basically refused to refund us saying we should call Expedia. This back and forth is absolutely time wasting and unprofessional. We then called Expedia AGAIN and wasted more time on hold as they called interrent. The conlusion to this story is that they gave us no car but took our money anyway. Refund refused. They dont even deserve 1 star!!!
— KD • April 2, 2019Car was 3 years old with 70,000km, lots of marks, windscreen water was empty, the controls had been changed to Hungarian and it took me ages to find out how to change it back, the st nav was useless as it hadn't been updated. Wrote a complaint E mail but received no reply
— GordonDee • March 29, 2019only company in my driving history who required 2 hady copies of utility bills before releasing the car
— philco • March 21, 2019Hi, I want to give the heads up to anyone coming to Tenerife who is thinking of hiring a car at Tenerife airport Sur. Whatever you do, please don't rent from Interrent (who are the same company as Goldcar & Europcar). Even if you have full comprehensive insurance in place, (as we did), they won't recognize it and will insist you give them your credit card details. We made the mistake of doing this and paid a heavy price, they have taken £506.06 from our account FRAUDULENTLY, and are refusing to discuss the matter further and have closed the case. I have established by researching them (unfortunately after the event) on the internet, that the method they used to 'scam' us is used routinely at all their offices throughout Europe and beyond. When we went to the collection area, the car we were given had numerous scratches on both the front and rear bumpers. We asked the employee who was signing the cars out, to come to the car with us as we wanted to report the damage and have it recorded on the 'Check-Out document we'd been handed which made no mention of the scratches. The Interrent employee tried every tactic imaginable to avoid doing this, he repeatedly told us it was not necessary as only dents had to be recorded on the document. We persisted and refused to leave unless he did so. He then put a circle around both bumpers on our document. That was it! No explanation or description of the damage at all. To cut a very long story short, we eventually told him we were going to write 'Scratches' next to the circles, to which he begrudgingly said 'okay' whilst still protesting it wasn't necessary. We asked him to sign the document but he quickly pointed out there was no section or 'box' requiring his signature (true) and our signature was on it and that's all that was needed! We returned the car a week later on the 11th March and had to leave the keys in the security box as it was out of hours (this is also a bonus as far as they are concerned as they don't have to check the car over with you). Anyway, by the time we got home they had emailed us a bill for 435 euros for the damaged bumpers and some trumped up claim that we'd damaged two wheel trims, this is utter nonsense! They Subsequently took £506 ....just because they could!! Along with the bill, they'd attached a copy of the 'Check- Out document, but it was not the one we'd recorded the damage on but the first blank one! So recording the damage was a waste of time anyway as they ignored it! They have refused to listen to my version of events even though I've emailed them a copy of our document, showing the damage was recorded before we left the airport. They basically gave us the two fingers! THE MOST ALARMING THING ABOUT THIS IS THE SCALE OF THIS FRAUD. THEY MUST BE MAKING A FORTUNE FROM THEIR ILLEGAL PRACTICES. DON'T BE THEIR NEXT VICTIM. Type 'INTERRENT' 'GOLDCAR' or EUROPCAR into your search engine and the word SCAM or FRAUD and you will see immediately how many times the same fraud is happening to peope. They all have similar stories and experiences of this group of companies. It's hard to believe they are doing this so blatantly......and are getting away with it!!!!
— Interrent 'Victim' • March 20, 2019
I booked a car through the CarFlexi website but on arrival at the InterRent desk at Toulouse airport they refused to accept the voucher except on exorbitant terms and I ended up having to re-book by paying over Euro100 more than the CarFlexi voucher showed. InterRent completely uncooperative but did admit that the situation was not unusual. Both CarFlexi and InterRent are companies to avoid at all costs. You can't even complain via their website because it doesn't recognise the pick-up station and therefore you are unable to submit your complaint.
— PrueVictoria • March 17, 2019Dreadful hard sell and threats as we did not take there insurance. Then stung on credit card we did not request or discuss. Plus over 100 euros for petrol when we took back with full tank as agreed. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
— John G • March 6, 2019When we picked up the car in Malaga airport last week we were told the excess insurance we bought wasn’t enough cover and we were forced to pay another £135 and I’ve just read the excess paperwork and it states that they will reimburse any damages and that we shouldn’t pay the excess offered. I feel I have been mis-sold this and he blatantly lied to me. When I queried and complained to the company I may has well not have bothered- standard response and they didn't even discuss my complaint but reeled off the information. NEVER BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY. i had booked ahead for another trip in May and have since cancelled it!
— Stacey • February 28, 2019First things first. Interrent, Rhodium & Goldcar are one and the same nowadays and it seems that all the old Goldcar tricks and scams have been adopted. Long queue at airport....almost an hour to collect car...was ridiculous however it was the usual damage charges that became the relevance. €700 charges due to microscopic scratches.....good job I had taken excess insurance privately. Avoid at all costs. Same with Goldcar & Rhodium
— ktckfcpik • February 19, 2019I have rented 3 times from this company at Verona airport. It is a one person booth so can only deal with one person at a time.Return or collect. They do try to get you to take out their own insurance.(As do all the others) Each time got a fairly new car. Damage if any was recorded before taking away. Good cars. Return was straightforward. The agents were all pleasant and helpful. Rate was reasonable.
— Keen skier • February 15, 2019Terrible experience with interrent at Tenerife South Airport. I would never rent a car through Interrent again Very long queue for the car despite there not being many customers, we waited over 1hr and 30 minutes. The staff at the Interrent desk were extremely rude to the point of aggressive. A truly awful experience
— Maggie • February 11, 2019Is a total scam and as i made the booking true Ryanair they seem to be also part, almost 59 euro extra charge for border crossing, in a European Community where borders where removed long ago. They should be investigated and possibly prosecuted.
— bambino • January 28, 2019One car had flat tire, another car had smell of petrol inside, and then they charged me for late car return while i returned it actually one hour earlier than agreed
— Mikhail • January 21, 2019First time to use them, had a uneasy feeling from the start. Hired cars in the canaries for 25 years with no problems. Wanted extra insurance, and when we picked car up there were more scratches and dents than they said so pointed these out and the form was changed but 3 days later after arriving home 600 euros taken off our card.
— Bus • December 31, 2018InterRent are quite appalling. It's all been said in many other reviews already. Firstly the dreadful state of the car (numerous dents and scratches and very dirty on collection). But worst was that the modest saving made by choosing their cheap rates was erased many times over by the "hidden" extras. Yes, my fault for not reading the small print, but having hired many cars over 30 years I have never experienced such a devious, snide and blatantly exploitative company.
— Simon • December 17, 2018I turned up late to pick up the hire car which wasn't there and was refused replacement, which meant I lost all my money £154.00, disgusting company, goldcar and interrent are the same company
— Ants • November 3, 2018The fact that the office is a shed outside the main Car Village building should concern you. The staff refused official legally recognised documents as identification and pushed their "special" all inclusive very expensive offer (min 160 pounds) instead. Both I and the two clients in front of me walked away in disgust. Modern day highway robbery - I will seriously NEVER think of using them again
— Furious • October 18, 20181. The free shuttle has never arrived. We waited 50 minutes in the heat, ordered the shuttle several times during this time. 2. Had to take a taxi that cost us 14.60 euro 3. Customer service informed us that they won't take my bank card. Even though in France there is no such a thing as credit or debit card. We had enough on the card to make the deposit 'pending' this has always worked. 4. We ended up paying 267euro instead of 70 as we had to take the full insurance (no choice there) 5. Avoid this company! Rude customer service, very expensive, outside of the airport, free shuttle may come may not 6. We were told to e-mail our taxi receipt to customer service, here is the reply from Interrent: 'According to our records, our services were fully functional at your arrival time. We regret to inform you that the charges with your rental will be kept as per our terms and conditions and the previously sent rental documents. ' Overall I'm surprised that this place is still running.
— Evi • October 17, 2018Dreadful company along with Auto Europe. On return to the UKfrom Bergamo I was charged for some additional insurance I never took out. I'm now bringing a fraud case against them. Stay away from this company.
— Matty • October 15, 2018Horrible and Lying company. We were charged an extra insurance without our knowledge at the service desk in Rome Fiumicino, which we didn't need and want, since we already purchased when booking online. The employee told us that all is fine, we do not need to pay anything and that that money on the document is the deposit, which will be refunded back to us. Of course, they never did. Yes, we should have been more careful and attentive, but you don't expect a reputable car rental company to LIE to you in that way. NEVER NEVER CHOOSE INTER RENT! And please, help me spread the word.
— Khachatur • October 5, 2018Absolutely terrible, dishonest people. Claimed I had made a scratch, wanted to charge around €350. When I questioned the scratch, which looked to me like just a superficial mark, he ramped up the rhetoric, claiming that actually I should pay double, and thst it was a “rayazo” (very big scratch). My partner then proceeded to dimply rub it off (to their annoyance). They did not apologize at all, having wanted to charge a fortune for nothing. Awful, immoral company. I don’t underswhy these scamming companies are allowed to keep trading.
— pedrito69 • October 2, 2018Not sure how to start, really. I rented a economic car with Axa insurance, in Faro airport, for 1 week. On the day of the arrival, terminal desk took me almost more time to get the car than the actually flight from Bristol. Unbelievable. Afterwards I decided to take the company full insurance. Well, if you rent car on any company PLEASE consider pay extra for full insurance or you can have so much hassle. Now... The nightmare. Drove from Faro to Viseu (560km). Thought the 6 months Seat Ibiza with 9000km on the clock would be nice, but after 100km it broke. Engine ko. Luckily I managed to drive it to nearest petrol station, on the A2 motorway, near Aljustrel. I rang Inter Rent and promptly they arrange assistance and because car could not been fixed they sent a taxi which took us to Lisbon, to Europcar. Yes, Europcar, the "opponent". Questioned why, and answer was that no other rental company was open at that time. 00:00. In there, I've been told that no car was available. So rang them back and another solution was being studied. Finally at almost 4AM another taxi arrived to take us to Rent a Star company so we could have a car to keep our trip to our destination. Mercedes C180 completely new. But just for 24hrs. It needed to be taken back to Porto airport Rent a Star within next 24hrs. And then go to Inter Rent to pick up another car. Absolutely nightmare. All this and maybe more than 20 phone calls to try sort out this problem. Needed to cancel plans because of this. Needed to pay petrol from Viseu to Porto (150km), and then back. Adding the cost of the tolls. I will try to get this amount refunded. But nothing pays me the hassle and the poor service of the company. No one from the approximately 20 phone operators deserve any credit. Not even an effort to help. Common. Wouldn't be nice to a client to be treated as that? Car broken down. Taxi to Lisbon, fair enough. Courtesy car, fair enough. But then, making me drive to Porto to exchange car? Wouldn't have been better for someone from Inter Rent to come to the client with a car and take the other back? What the heck??? Absolutely miserable service. Think twice before you hire!!! It only could have been worst if I had a baby or a disable person with me. Other than that, it was an absolutely nightmare!!!
— Fernando Cardoso • October 1, 2018A real scam, rented a car in Menorca and it was never explicit the full to empty fuel, and they charged €30 to give you the full tank + €50 for the petrol, which the second should have been refunded to me as I brought back full thank, it has been 2 months and I still haven’t got my refund back, many unsuccessful emails and calls to customer service. I WILL NEVER use this company again and don’t recommend, the cheap will end up expensive and give you lots of headaches.
— Mari • September 24, 2018Despite telling the receptionist that we did not want extra cover and also showing her our own independent insurance cover documents, she still went ahead and included extra cover. As we had had to wait about an hour for service, we were in a rush to get away before the shops closed at midday until Monday, so didn't notice this addition until we received an email copy of our rental agreement the day we returned home. After contacting Auto-Europe through whom we had booked with Interrent, we were told that as we had signed the contract, there would be no refund. We will NEVER use either of these companies for car hire again. Appalling service. Buyer beware!
— Crystalpearl • September 21, 2018I boomem a car in Malaga with prepayment for my father and his wife. They came to pick up the car 2.5 hours later than the scheduled time, while Interrent assistants were talking and stalling them with security options, 3 hours ran out and they told us that by their rules if you don’t pick up the car within 3 hours , booking is not guaranteed. So they said the only option was to take a different car which was 5 (!) times more expensive and way too large. Obviously, they didn’t refund the money paid for the initial booking so we had to walk away without money AND with no car and a holiday in front of us. Terrible service in Spain! They took the money They didn’t give a car They didn’t offer any good options (say, come and pick up the car that we paid for the next day)
— Aveal • September 15, 2018
they are the worst - never any more - their office is far from the airport - poor communication for their location - took me almost 2 hrs to find them (and I am Italian) - they changed the price because of the insurance - (I was able to observe 5 clients in total, before and after me, they changed the rental cost to all 5 clients. - Car not clean and with few dents on the outside - Poor clients service - At the end, more expensive than other rental companies - completely unprofessional service
— Alfredo • September 7, 2018A Big Scam & Fraud Company, this is not a proper rental company, if something go wrong there is no customer service, no help, no support, I have hired a car and car broke down and failed to start, I called them all day no answer, I was stranded, no replacement, no help, on my way back to airport on taxi I went to their Stanstead office and told them everything, they were not really bothered, still not releasing my deposit, no refunds no calls no help no support, absolutely a fraud and scam. Stay away and save yourselves from this fraud.
— ic44 • September 6, 2018This is the worst car hire company i have ever seen , i book for seven seater but instead i was giving a citreon C -ELySEE i was force to buy additional insurance of 60 euro the staff were so rude, threatened you like you were there to beg for the car and they are just doing a favour .
— sylvester • September 3, 2018Awful experience with inter rent in Venice. Took us ages to find the transfer meeting point. We arrive at office and told our berlingo type car has been rented as we are 40 minutes delayed on the strict 59 min pick up time. We are then forced to pay an extra £130 for a slightly better car. The man was so rude and patronising and was clearly enjoying ripping us off for more money. He says if we don’t want to pay extra we are welcome to cancel booking and find an alternative car hire which of course they know very well will cost more. When we get out of the office there are 3 berlingo type vehicles in their bays which he insists have all been rented out. Every person in the queue had to pay more money for some reason or another! Absolute rip off and you should avoid at all costs!!!!
— Lucy j • August 29, 2018I would like to warn everyone to rent a car from Intercars (Tenerife) !!! This company is a big joke. They offer you good price and when you arrive you are being forced to take extra insurance, so at the end price will triple. At the airport they gave me car with scratch and dent on sides and form you get there is no info about this, so when you return car they might charge you like 500 euro to access their insurance. So be careful! Take photos and get back to these “nice” people and make them write this on form so you won’t be responsible for it when returning car. They were supposed to refund me money for full tank of gasoline that I filled at the gas station but guess if they did(no). When at the airport they offered me insurance for 103 euro and I agreed ( too tired to read form) Lady at front desk took my debit card and deducted 189 euro(shame I believed her) I wrote to customer service about this situation and no reply..!!! I strongly recommend to avoid these people as they probably make money on extra charges, so the price will be double or triple.. I guess the way to make money is to prey on fact that people go for holiday and extra money for something is acceptable for them and too tired to argue with them. At the front desk they are nice and polite and then s..t happens like this. So if you don’t want lose extra money , stay away from them. Shame!! Intercars is a gold mine, as when they rip you off they don’t get any consequences. You can write, call them but nothing you will manage. So hiring car for 110 euro ended up 299 euro…!!! Shame on them.
— paul • August 16, 2018Hello, I am writing here to share my recent experience with Inter rent which has been extremely disappointing. I rented a car for 4 days at their agency based in Catania Airport, Sicily. When picking up the cars, I have presented my American express Credit Card to the receptionist as the T&C stipulated that it was accepted by the company. However, their system rejected the Amex and the receptionist asked me to provide another credit card or pay insurance for €160. Since we were in a hurry, I had no choice but paying this insurance knowing that I could request the refund by calling their customer service. Especially that it was a problem is their system. During my stay in Italy, I have tried to call the company several times but no one picked up the phone. After 2 weeks waiting time, sending 3 emails and messaging on FB to communicate the issue, Inter rent finally came back to me to tell me that it was my fault and they are refusing to reimburse me the amount that they should have never charged initially. I’m very disappointed by the service and the way Inter-rent is handling this situation, especially that it’s their own responsibility. Inter rent is not respecting at all what has been communicated in their T&C which is clearly stipulating that American Express are considered as “Accepted Credit Cards”. I have discussed with other people that used inter-rent and it seems that many of them experienced the same problem. Their agents told them that the system did not accept the Amex and pushed them to pay for the insurance instead. Even worst, their customer service is rejecting the responsibility on their customers instead of providing a professional service? All of this for an amount that is lower than €160? I will never use this company again, it is the worst customer experience I ever had renting a car and my advice to people reading this post is to not use this company as you will be clearly disappointed.
— LouDut • August 6, 2018Do not rent a car from this company. When we left the car back they told us there were 2 scratches on the car we had to pay for. The first one was under the car which we had to get down on the ground to see and the other was on the wing mirror which had been on the car when we got it. We were told by the staff it was our duty to photograph the car when we had got it which we hadn't and if we had we certain,y would have missed the scratch underneath the car. My daughter who is a solicitor asked for the procedures on how to contest these claims the girl dealing with this suddenly claimed she could not speak much English. We were forced to sign a form that we agreed to this and pay €370 if we hadn't they were going to take €900 euros off our card. We asked to talk to a manager who like the girl who was serving us was rude. Their name badges were turned the wrong way and when I asked for both their names or their IDs they refused and when I went to take a picture this the 2 girls and then a male member of staff tried to take my phone off me I refused to delete the pictures until they gave me their names of which they would only give us the managers. We are going to fight this legally I am writing this as I don't want anyone going through what we did.
— Tamara • August 4, 2018They tell you all is ok as they checked the car back. Then 15 euros get charged on my credit card for no reason. And they still fail to give a reason
— isayoldchap • July 20, 2018They are the worst car hire company I have ever come across I returned the first car with a 1.5cm scratch that could easily have been there on pick up as it was under the front bumper not only did they charge me 950 Euros for damage but they also added the car hire price twice all this without authorisation from my credit card. I fought with them for many months to get money back even threatened them with solicitors to no avail.. They were rude and nasty when talking to you and do not care about the customers experience. I did not realise this was the company I had chosen this year as the first incident was 3 years ago ..This time they just went on and on and on about My Excess Insurance from Reduce My Excess not being any good and if the car even broke down they would just take the car back and leave me without one so you are more or less blackmailed into taking their full insurance .. Also beware Do You Spain advise that if you take their Excess Waiver Interrent will only hold back 350 Euros.. NO THEY WONT they still insist on the whole amount. I have advised Do You Spain of this but they cant really do anything about it .. JUST DONT USE INTERRENT ...
— Elle • July 17, 2018Crooks! This company is completely dishonest and will steal your money. They had to change the name from Europacar after enough people realized they are crooks. We booked through Expedia - fully paid, fully insured, deposit covered. When we arrived in Barcelona it took two hours for them to go through a relatively small line. When it was our turn we understood why. Every person was extorted. The clerk held up the keys and asked, "Do you want the car? Then you have to pay the fee."
— JimE • July 11, 2018Excellent service - vehicles clean. Staff very helpful. Visit Spain a lot and have used many different car hire companies over time but since interRent came to Malaga use it all the time
— Syd261 • June 24, 2018Although I had 'reduce my excess' insurance the Interent rep brow beat me intobuying their own insurance, insisting that the one I had was useless. It was easiest to comply, even if it cost us an extra 50€. When I returned the car with a nearly full tank, they charged me for a full tank. My recommendation for this company is avoid at all costs.
— Kentface • June 22, 2018Quick pick up and even quicker drop off! A great rate and a fantastic car.
— Muir2000 • June 16, 2018Good service and quick
— Dai • June 14, 2018value for money , great new 5 door car provided , service at collection and return good and timely
— skeenie • June 6, 2018Honestly the worst company ever. We secured a vehicle in Spain, paid up and didn’t think anything of it. After arriving in Spain we were told they recommended something a bit bigger that what they recommend. We said there was only three of us so that was unnecessary. Her story quickly changed to “oh sorry sir your car is no longer available because you took longer that 2 hours to arrive after your original booking time”. We were 1 hour and 7 minutes over the time, and when we said this, the lady Suddenly struggled with English and was saying something about a time mix up and how she could give us a great deal on a different car. After around 45 minutes of arguing we had to arrange for a car 3 times he price because we had no other option. Please avoid, taking advantage of stranded customers.
— Jestnut • June 5, 2018They told me that the policy I had bought from you was insufficient and I had to pay about 50€ for their policy. The car was rubbish to drive but that's not their fault although a little instruction from them would have been welcome.
— Mike • June 5, 2018Refused my car at Stanstead Airport because I did not have ID showing my address other than my driving licence. Even though the confirmation email/voucher I received clearly states "What you will need to pick up your car - passport, driving licence, voucher, credit card". Unbelievable that they are so willing to leave customers high and dry with a car, the guy infront of me didn't get his car either. Thankfully Enterprise saved the day, I paid a bit more but at least they know how to look after their customers.
— Chris • May 25, 2018Contentious Damage Report and Abusive Repair Charge After multiple hires at UK airports and despite few customer service disappointments I kept hiring from them because of price. However, after my last hire in March I have given up and I will not hire again. I don't recommend InterRent for the following reasons: - I was charged for damage I am convinced I didn't do - An abusive damage repair charge of GBP382 for a small superficial scratch on rear bumper (polisher and cloth would do) - A strong need to generate revenue because I didn’t take the excess insurance. I had alternative cover. - Staff with very poor customer service approach and worse customer retention vision

This company is a scam they charged my credit card £300 or that not authorisation while the car was still in contract a child in a further £115 which they cannot justify also without my authorisation in short stay well away from this company unless you want to get scammed all you need to do is read reviews online and we'll tell you that this advert is a bunch of scam artists
— Mikey • May 1, 2018Low inital price very attractive, that gets you into their hands. Then the hard sell starts, various items were offered, I said no to all of them. That's when the complications start, I was told to wait for almost 3 hours during which I realised that if they were "malicious" at the start then drop off would probably be worse. I cancelled and chose to travel by train. Interrent are very definitely one to avoid, my experience was at Manchester a/p but even so, never again at any location, the company has a poisened culture, STAY AWAY.
— Oscar • April 29, 2018Booked through Ryanair via cartrawler. Arrived at Dublin airport to get an email telling me if I arrived after 9pm - late arrival charge of £60. Information came far too late for me to do anything and yes I arrived at the desk 9.03pm as my flight was delayed. No option as travelling alone and needed a car to pick 88 year old father up from hospital. Car trawler took payment from my account on the 23/3/28 and emailed me on my day of travel 5/4/18. Wrong on every level.
— Jean • April 10, 2018Scam when returning the car, one being under pressure to catch the flight back home. On returning the car it was spotless clean, no kids, no pets, etc she lifted the carpet and found a few specks of sand underneath, surely not me as we did not go anywhere on the beach. I am now suspicious they were placed there on purpose before collecting, who would check for sand underneath the carpets when collecting the car?? I picked them up one by one for here but she would not budge, charged me Euro15, I have photos to prove how clean it was, she gave me an interrent email address to complain to, told here that goes to your own boss who is asking you to carry out this scam to make more money. Also, when collecting the car she had asked me if I intended to drive on a toll road, I said probably I don’t know as it’s my first time in Portugal, she said that’s an extra Euro18, (afterwards I found out that the rental of this toll tag is actually Euro1.50 per week), surely when you rent a car you should be allowed to drive on any road in the country and only pay for the toll charge. Interrent are a scam company, they’ll catch you somehow when you’re in need to rush to the airport and catch the flight back home.
— MarioF • March 31, 2018After completing the formalities of hiring the car and resisting the considerable pressure to upgrade at extra cost,I noticed damage which had not been marked on the car map. I reported this and the map was amended and signed accordingly. On returning the car, it was checked in my presence by an English speaking, very polite young man who assured me that everything was in order and that there was nothing extra to pay. He signed my document accordingly. However, when I received my credit car bill, Interrent had made an unauthorised, unexplained deduction of an amount WHICH EXCEEDED THE COST OF THE HIRE!!! Holiday Autos, with whom the hire was booked and paid for, did not respond to repeated emails on the matter so I contacted my credit card company, who refunded the unauthorised charge. Needless to say, I will not hire from Interrent or Holiday Autos again, ever. Beware......
— safariboy60 • March 29, 2018I was informed upon arrival that InterRent had no cars available. Wait time would be minimum an hour or more. This was the message conveyed to all customers who arrived after me. After approx 1 hour, the rep offered a 'solution' for anyone who couldn't wait any longer. As I was 1st in the queue, I was 'offered' an upgrade at an additional cost - £36.00 which I was forced to take because I was already late for business meetings. This happened to me with InterRent previously where I had to accept a downgrade, without refund.. Terrible service, absolutely unbelievable that this upgrade was not offered free of charge. In addition, I have never come across another provider who repeatedly applies pressure to try to hard sell extras - Excess Insurance, Breakdown Insurance, Cleaning costs, Upgrades, Refueling charge. Absolutely ridiculous.. I rent cars in the UK nearly every week and InterRent are always the last choice. The damage reports are never accurate and make sure that the tank is full before you leave the compound. It has happened to me with InterRent on more than one occasion that I only noticed the tank wasn't completely full when I had just entered the motorway. STAY AWAY FROM InterRent IF YOU CAN. WORST CAR RENTAL COMPANY ON THE MARKET!
— Annoyed Business Traveller • March 23, 2018Brilliant , great customer service skills. Lovely car, very reliable
— lauraskylar • March 20, 2018No nonsense approach. Did not question my excess policy you provided unlike many other budget renters.
— Foghorn 3 • March 12, 2018The upfront price was very good, however when picking up the car the hard sell started. I expected them to try and sell me Excess Insurance (I had purchased this separately but apparently it wasn't good enough). I was also told only mechanical breakdowns result in roadside assistance (Another insurance was available). The one that really surprised me was the pre-paid cleaning cost of around 5 Euro. If the car couldn't be hired straight out again without cleaning there would be a 20 Euro charge. Needless to say I didn't purchase any extras. On returning the car there was a long delay (Around 40 minutes!) at the rental area as there was only one person inspecting the cars on their return. Ours was duly inspected and given a clean bill of health. The 300 Euro deposit taken out on my Credit Card would be returned in about five days.
— Pip • March 11, 2018Avoid Interrent like the plague We have just picked up our rental car in Tenerife and we are most unhappy with the service we received from Interrent: 1. The girl on the desk immediately tried a very hard sell to upgrade our car to a more robust model at Eu20 per day extra, saying that the model booked was not powerful enough for our requirements, which we had merely stated as ‘touring the island’. This is a nonsense, unless of course as it is reasonable to expect that any car on hire is fit for local motoring conditions. 2. After we insisted on keeping the model booked she embarked on a very hard sell for excess insurance, despite my telling her repeatedly that we have an annual UK policy for all of our car rentals that covers excess etc. She dismissed this a irrelevant, but again we declined the upgrade. 3. We then had a further, somewhat heated debate about roadside assistance where she insisted that we should pay an additional 3 euros per day in case of breakdown or accident. We again declined, but she stipulated that we would be charged Eu 325 for roadside assistance and if the cause were not mechanical breakdown the contract would then be voided and we would not get a replacement car. Again, we refused to pay this charge. 4. Re fuel, she was very vague on the fuel costs. We asked that if we returned the car with a full tank, would we get a refund of both the fuel paid for and the refuelling charge. She kept referring us to our Rentalcars.co Ts&Cs., which I have say are not very clear. When we left, she was obviously very annoyed and my wife and I can only assume this is because she was on commission or a bonus for upselling. However, she was not nearly as annoyed as we both are with such a poor and excessively pushy service. My concern, now that I have calmed down a little is that, in the unlikely case of an accident, the rental contract would be voided and we would not get a replacement car. This is NOT an insignificant clause and had we been aware of it prior to booking, we would have looked elsewhere. My UK insurance covers charges for loss of use but this would not necessarily cover the cost of a new contract for the remainder of our rental. Also, the mandatory refuelling charge is a nonsense if the car is returned with a full tank and does not require refuelling and I note that other car rental agencies I have checked in Tenerife do not have such an illogical charge. In all, we are significantly underwhelmed with this experience and such a cavalier attitude from Interrent.
— ChrisR • February 25, 2018The receptionist refused to hannd over the keys despite showing her the Excess policy. She kept 'finding' items that would not be covered as Tenerife was an island! After trvelling for 10 hours with friends not in the best of health I reluctantly paid their insurance just to go. The car was not too brilliant either a very underpowered Clio estate. Also a cheecky fee to pay for cleaning the car (cheaper if you pay at pickup). I have used Interrent frequently elswhere with no problems but if this is some new form of business I won't be using them again.
— Roofdownkid • February 15, 2018Good customer service. Car was clean and exactly what I wanted.
— Ianora • February 9, 2018I rented a car from Interrent at Manchester Airport today. Interrent’s employee Natalie used a barrage of scare tactics in an endeavour to persuade me to upgrade or buy additional insurance. I was threatened with the following consequences of not doing so: - Fee of £7.50 for cleaning the vehicle on return. When I pointed to the poster saying that this only applies to vehicles returned unreasonably dirty on the inside and asked “where does it say you have to pay £7.50” Natalie replied “I’m telling you now”. - I would be given an old and damaged vehicle (Vauxhall Meriva) and I’d have to wait 30 minutes for it, whereas an upgrade was ready immediately. Strangely I could not see a Vauxhall Meriva anywhere on the site, old, damaged or otherwise. - I would have to allow at least 30 minutes on return for the vehicle to be inspected for damage if I didn't take out extra insurance. - I was likely to have an accident or a puncture - of which apparently Natalie has had 3 in the last year. I know Manchester's roads have potholes, but this is taking it to the next level! - Natalie told me that my annual excess insurance would not cover me, regardless of whether any accident was my fault or not. Natalie: “You think you’re covered but you’re not”. Owing to a cancelled appointment, I needed the car for one day instead of the two I had booked and pre-paid for. Natalie: "There's nothing I can do about that". To be honest, I didn't expect a refund at short notice but I didn't expect the upgrade hard-sell! Clearly Natalie had identified me as a nice old gentleman who would cave in to her demands in order to shut her up - but she was mistaken. I can imagine customers more vulnerable than me letting themselves be ripped off just to escape the harassment. Now I realise that Interrent is the low-cost brand of Europcar and you can't blame the company for trying to increase revenue per customer. But the tactics and attitude of Natalie are completely unacceptable. I honestly don't remember such diabolical customer service in any context and I'm no spring chicken. Needless to say, I shall NEVER use Interrent again, nor shall I use Europcar, since the sharp practices are clearly condoned by the parent company.
— ChrisD • February 5, 2018Possibly the worst rental company i have ever used..... My latest rental form this company was the final straw! I rented a car from INTERRENT Tenerife South Airport. The customer service reps were lazy, rude and generally unhelpful (At one point i was talking to my 7 year old daughter whist waiting for the lazy staff to asisst me and was told to 'Be Quiet' by a member of staff...i let her know my feelings on her rudeness).....As i paid using a Debit Card , i had to pay for the full insurance (Looking at other horrid reviews this was probably a good move!). Car was not the car i was promised, it was dirty, damaged all over and had 2 bald tyres! The whole experience was costly and very painful. I should have gone for a slightly more expensive hire company as i ended up paying more then quoted anyway..When returning the car the airport petrol station had no diesel. The staff member said lots of people had been unable to fill up but they still charged me a €35 penalty plus over inflated refill costs. The car should have cost €220 but ended up being over €400!!!!...Do yourself a favour and STAY CLEAR FROM THIS RENTAL COMPANY! They WILL RIP YOU OFF!!
— feelingpeedoff • January 4, 2018This is an appalling company to rent a car from. We picked up the car from Mallorca airport. My first mistake was failing to recognise that I should have taken a ticket from a dispenser and then waited quietly until I was summoned into the office. Instead I waited in the office and, after waiting for ten or fifteen minutes, was spoken to quite rudely while being informed that I should have taken a ticket and that there were others ahead of me in the queue (I guess they assumed that I was attempting to push in!). I think it would have been better to have given me the benefit of the doubt for my honest mistake, and informed me of the queuing system politely. The waiting times were significant – around 45 minutes to get seen. I was then pushed to take out additional insurance, upgrade the car, add more drivers etc. all of which I declined. When I returned the car they questioned the fuel level. The gauge was slightly off the maximum line, but very close to it (within the width of the needle). I said as much and they said that I could go, and gave me the impression that everything was acceptable. Bearing in mind that I was over two hours early returning the car, there would have been enough time to drive away and squeeze a few extra millilitres of fuel into it, but this was not suggested by them, and I didn’t suggest it because they gave me the impression that everything was fine. A few days later I saw that they had charged my credit card an additional 50 Euros, with no explanation. They didn’t even provide an invoice. After questioning the broker (Auto Europe) an invoice was produced stating that the car was only ¾ full. Interrent had charged me more than 15 Euros for fuel plus a 35 Euro penalty. If they had managed to squeeze an extra 5 Euros worth of fuel into the car they would have done well! So, in short, they made a fraudulent claim regarding the amount of fuel they had needed to add and then charged me an additional 35 Euros penalty for the privilege. The broker (did I mention it was Auto Europe) were very blunt when I questioned the charge and explained the situation, and they supported Interrent to the full. They were unwilling to question the validity of Interrent`s claim that we had left them short of ¼ of a tank of fuel, and simply took their word for it over ours. Having given Auto Europe and Interrent the opportunity to reconsider their decision, and with nothing positive coming from that, I decided to pursue a refund from my bank. I am pleased to report that I have been fully refunded on the basis that the charge was unauthorized. Needless to say that I am sharing my experience across the internet and have no intention of using either Auto Europe or Interrent again.

Watch out for the cleaning charge it’s a complete rip off that you don’t know until you get there.
— Jonny • December 12, 2017Extremely long queue to collect car at airport even though it was pre-booked. I was glad I had taken out insurance with ReduceMyExcess beforehand as this gave me peace of mind - and was much cheaper than buying it from hire car company
— Gee • December 7, 2017Overall bad experience. The company has a very predatorial approach to customers attracting them with a hot deal which in the end turns out to be way more expensive in the end. I booked with a supposedly great deal together with a flight reservation and the offer was 35euro for the rental. The final price we paid was 219euro... In the contract which is only available in spanish they wrote that I gave consent to a pre-paid fuel options which costs extra 30euro (so I can return the car without refilling), but I never agreed or was asked about it. The presonnel was trying to force me and other customers getting a bigger car for "only" 20euro per day more, as the one I rented (renault clio) is "not good enough for the hilly roads of the island". 90% of the cars in the island is renault clio or sth of the same class. BTW. I booked ford focus and got clio instead... Avoid this company, avoid fuel pre-paid option, they will always cheat you with it. My experience with small, local rental firms was much better.
— jereq • November 7, 2017The hire was straightforward and very reasonable

— JONTR • October 6, 2017Recent summer hire in France. Car was fine but long wait to pick it up. Unfortunately had to return it damaged and two months later I am still waiting for the invoice relating to the money they have taken from my credit card. I need this to claim the money back from Reducemyexcess and there is no way to try and contact them bar email to which they are not replying - dreadful customer service.
— Mark • October 1, 2017Car collection was offsite so a bus takes you from the outside of the airport to the depot. They do their usual thing in trying to get you to buy a package for the car excess and then the breakdown facility. Then they also get you to buy a pre-pay pass for the toll roads and then pay for a valet on the return. Car was ok. rerurningthe car was really quick as someone came outside and checked it and then we were transferred back to the airport
— Peewack • October 1, 2017InterRent was by far the cheapest car hire company at Aberdeen Airport. The saving was worth having to take a shuttle bus ride to the Park&Depart car park. The hire price was subject to a limit of 90 miles a day, but we were offered unlimited mileage for an extra fee. Our hire car was a lovely Fiat 500 with only 5000 miles on the clock. The staff member was courteous, friendly and polite.
— klint • September 30, 2017Hassle free rental. Free shuttle to collection and from drop off. Quick and efficient service from the guy on the desk. Would recommend Internet to anyone looking for a good and fair priced rental.
— Zobking • September 27, 2017This is the worst car rental company I have ever dealt with - on arrival there was a queue of 27 people ahead of us and it was taking aprox 30 minutes for each person for the paperwork. We were with a very tired toddler having had an early morning flight. The car rental company had a waiting ticket system in place and I found another ticket on the hall that bump me ahead of the queue, but still the wait was over half an hour. We were greeted by the RUDEST customer service agent ever, that would not listen to us, would not give any advice, would shout at us, trying to sell us extras, although we politely refused and when asked why is this happening - the answer was " this is a low cost rental company, it is Saturday, what do you expect?". Needless to say every single person in the queue was angry, to say the least. I have never had such a bad experience with a car rental company. When we eventually got to collect the car, this was dirty, with an almost flat tire - we were sent at a petrol station saying that they cannot help, with loads of damages not marked on the car sheet and we were advised to bring the car back clean or we will be charged. Needless to say that I will never use this company again, as it is not worth the hassle! Overall extremely disappointed with the experience.
— MB • September 18, 2017advised that the rental car had been broken into/ or an attempt made - this was surmised by the staff because the key hole on the drivers door was slightly off kilter from verticle (15%) - no other damage. think they were try it on and I'll get a charge in due course. checking the manual for the suggests that using the key is acceptable if the blipper doesn't work and everything still worked fine.
— SLJ • September 6, 2017RME are absolutely excellent. Such a simple process - so simple you think it is too good to be true. But when returning a car in Ibiza which had a "new" scratch on it, I was very worried about the £400 charge that was made. RME process was quick and easy - despite there be no details of an accident - the scratch happened but I ahve no idea how or when. I will ALWAYS be using RME from now on and have signed my parents up to an annual policy, after they recently got stung in Ireland for a four-figure sum from a reputable rental company. Thank you RME
— andyl3004 • August 23, 2017You will not find the Shuttle Bus to the off site location unless you call them, as no instructions are provided by the Hire Company
— Bruce Lee • August 23, 2017Didn't have to use your policy so that was a bonus! I am an Insurance Broker and certainly the cover and cost of your policy is superb. I had a good read of your policy wording before buying and it is at the top of the range compared to your competitors.
— Hunty • August 20, 2017Good efficient service but beware you have to pay to have the car cleaned!
— Jambon Gris • August 7, 2017The pick up location for Inter Rent is a five minute bus journey or a 15 minute walk from the airport. If you have children I would strongly recommend that you take the shuttle bus. We were advised to walk direct to save queuing in the heat, as there was no shade, however the walk is along a road and also doesn't provide any shade, so with all suitcases and bags it makes waiting for the shuttle bus a more sensible option. The staff are really friendly and speak very good English and there is also no hard up-sell of add on insurance. We took out a separate policy for extra cover and they were more than happy and didn't scare us into buying their policy. I would definitely use them again.
— Angelina • August 5, 2017The worst car hire ever. Booking in was via a touchscreen which did not work, so it took an hour to book the car through. Having had a problem with the car hire we have emailed customer services 3 times without reply. Staff in Pisa have also said they are too busy to help with my enquiries.
— Mug1 • July 24, 2017Many key factors that were supposed to be included in the rental agreement were not actually included, in particular the Winter Package which is obligatory at that time of year and for which they tried to charge extra. We refused. One of the worst aspects too was the fact that the car had not been cleaned, whether inside of out - in fact it was filthy. This, combined with the very poor lighting at the depot, meant that we had a nightmare from the start with inspecting the vehicle and taking photos of the bodywork - which had a lot of minor pre-existing damage to it, none of which had been noted on the forms we were expected to sign. When we returned the car, they were equally casual about it - not even giving it a cursory glance. Altogether very unprofessional.
— Robbo • July 20, 2017Good value for money
— MV • July 15, 2017I was charged 30 Euro's for a late pick up despite being 2 minutes after the quoted picked up time
— Micky F • July 11, 2017Absolutely atrocious company, awful customer service. Hard sold us every addon under the sun, wasting our time, told us if the car broke down without cover they'd pick the car up and leave us without a replacement. Handed the keys to us, told us which bay it was in but said "just keep pressing unlock till you find the car". Couldn't find the car so went back to the desk, no one there! When the guy finally returned it turned out the car was in a completely different car park about 5 mins away, making us late for our hotel check in and nearly missing a day of our holiday. Gave us an uncleaned car and had the audacity to tell us we had to pay €5 for a cleaning fee or risk a €20 fee when it was returned. Will never use InterRent again.
— James • July 10, 2017The firm was OK, but just too busy to give any help to explain where the car was & were not bothered about all the dents and scratches when we picked it up.
— Stu • July 6, 2017Quick and easy collection and drop off, no hidden charges. Liked the fuel policy full to full.
— Msg • June 25, 2017Long queue at the reception desk, we were there for at least half an hour in the heat. Girl was friendly and didn't give me the hard sell for insurance. Return was very easy with no damage and the guy was pleasant enough
