Thrifty
All went well. Car was similar to one we had ordered.
The most striking thing was the friendliness of the staff. They were prepared to spend time with us and explain issues we raised. For the range of car we hired they were by far the cheapest on offer. On the downside there are a number of small print clauses easily missed. In particular an age (over 70) charge.
No office in the Car Hire Hall only a little sign saying go up to office in the car park. Pick up was a little disappointing, they were very keen on selling their own excess insurance, even to the point of saying breakdown cover not included if you didn't purchase. Paperwork did not have any indication of the existing damage to the car and the car was parked in a very dark area making it difficult to see. They were also very fussy about returning the car full and said they needed to see the receipt of where you filled up. On return, there was no one in the office and had to drop off the keys in the key box, was half expecting some additional charges to be made, but, deposit has been returned in full. Overall, the car was nearly new, clean and well priced, but, probably wouldn't use Thrifty Car Hire again.
Vehicle was fine, but they charged for services I did not request.
Used a company Carney to book car, it was only after paying, I received an email from Thrifty informing me there was a 1300 excess, if I had known this I wouldn’t have booked, I couldn’t cancel Car hire pick up in Tomar was Hertz? They informed me excess was 900 euros ??? My credit card had maximum of 850 euros so I wasn’t allowed to take car until I paid 110 euros for their insurance, they also took 120 euros for a deposit which they didn’t inform me they had done, a complete disaster
The Hertz (Thrifty) staff at the airport were welcoming and efficient. Every part of the rental terms were clearly explained to me. I told them I had taken a voluntary excess policy with « Reduce my excess » and they accepted this.
Good
There appeared to be no Thrifty employees, but Hertz appeared to take responsibility and were most helpful.
Nice car, helpful staff, no hard sell
Really good, collection a breeze, very smart car, detailed the damage and e mailed it to me prior to driving. Quick returns. Definitely recommend ( booked through Holiday extras)
Efficient - helpful
Quick service good car. Best so far
Cars ready . Easy to find . Staff pleasant . Easy return
Thrifty franchise actually shared with Hertz. Brand new car, helpful friendly staff, collected from office in centre of Marbella, pick up and drop off from a nearby underground car park.
We hired through thrifty but picked the car up from hertz. We collected the car from an underground car park late at night, we we given paperwork details damage to the car at the hire desk, but the lady in the pick up area was did not go through this with us. On returning the car the man went all over the car with a touch picking out every scratch and then tried to charge us for a small dent on the bottom of the passenger door. Luckily my husband had taken a video of the car before we took it and it was clear the damage was already there and they were trying to pull a fast one. He agreed there was nothing to pay. Always take a video of the car inside and out before leaving as the are all dodgy in my experience and want to charge you for anything they can.
All went well.
Excellent service and car was new and clean on collection. Good value for money.
Excellent service, save for car park drop off at the end of my holiday, when no attendant was present. I subsequently handed keys into the agent in Arrivals who was most apologetic. The check-in was extremely smooth and pain-free however. My rating would have been 10 if the drop-off would have been equally smooth.
Stated pickup at arrivals Hall, they had moved to a new building at least 300 yards away, my wife and I are 76 and 77 years old Signs were not very good
Compact car we ordered wasn’t available so we were upgraded to a bigger car. Car was fine, but would have preferred a slightly smaller one really.
